Default Extended Transformers release?

I heard rumors that an Extended release of Transformers was coming out with the sequel. Uh...shouldn't we have heard something by now? I don't want to hold off from buying Transformers any longer, so I'm aniously waiting to hear about this new release. Any info would be appreciated.

This was rumored but there was never any firm proof that it was going to happen. I agree that it likely would have been announced by now if it was going to happen in time for the sequel's theatrical release. I would guess if it happens it will be with the Blu-ray release.

If I were you I'd just get the current release. It's mind blowingly good and the extended cut will likely be one of those ones that only has like 4-5 minutes of new material that isn't anything special anyways.

One of those...? You mean like Terminator 2, Aliens or The Abyss?

hehe

Some movies benefit very from an extended cut, and I wouldn't dream of seing The Abyss in any other form than the extended cut.

So I'm going to wait for the extended Transformers.

I'm holding off purchasing the Transformers Blu-ray until this so called extended version releases. Also because the Transformers blu is still $34.99 at my local futureshop and bestbuy branches

I just purchased this movie on blu-ray. Hopefully they don't release an extended cut or I will have to sell it off

The extended version that showed in IMAX had very little to offer(2-3 mins, mainly bad dialogue), so you'd not be missing much by skipping a re-release on disc.

I don't know if there were any similar sales in CAN but in the US last Black Friday Transformers went on sale for like $9.99.

I have the HD-DVD version of Transformers. If they release an extended version on blu-ray it will give me a good reason to double dip.

True. I have the HD DVD (still see it new for $5 in bargain bins all over the place in Canada), but will only upgrade/double-dip if they offer something new in the way of extras.

Dunno if they would do it now, because they probably would have revealed it by now. Now they wouldn't be able to get that nice 'free ticket' snyergy people love so much.

And here's a thought, why can't they just release it as a BD-Live feature? Or at least have a way to view the cut scenes online through the Blu-Ray or something.

Because they can make more money by having some people buy it again. Now I'm not saying you are wrong by thinking it should be a BD-Live feature. That is something that BD-Live seems perfect for, but we all know how much these studios love to try to make extra money instead.

I would just buy the version already released. It had been going on sale quite often. It will probably go on sale again sometime in the near future.

Same here...I've been holding out. I bought it on dvd because Paramount was HD exclusive so whenever they release the extended version, I'll bite.

The whole extended release sounds like it's not going to happen at all. If you're holding out on getting this, you are missing out on Blu-ray at its finest.
