Canada Firefly $25.29

Best Buy's flyer has this at $29.99.

Price match at Future Shop ($76.99) to get the set for $25.29.

Amazing find! Thank you.

I've been waiting for some Firefly deal for a long time now. Will try to get it from my FS tomorrow.

After picking this up for $25(ish) on Boxing Day, I can't imagine anyone paying the full $70+ for this set! Glad to see Best Buy is making it available so that more people catch this amazing show!

I just bought it at the $25.29 price. Blind buy for me.

One of my top three sci-fi authors says it is possibly the best sci-fi series of all time:

well.. i've seen serenity and herd this was good. but best sci-fi of all-time? i'd have to disagree. that right is reserved for Battlestar Galactic and others like Star Trek TNG/ TOS/ Enterprise, The X Files and the Stargate SG1/ Atlantis Series imho. i dont think one can crown it such a title without even having made it thru one season. having said that. i may check what the trade-in value at blockbuster is (so that way if i dont like it, i can re-cycle it without loosing too much $$)

Cool, thanks.

$2 per episode can't be bad.

no, offcourse not... i totally agree this is a wicked deal. but given how many times i think i'd watch it again..... thats usually what persuades me to decide whether things are worth the purchase or not. especially since i'm debating on buying the f&f trilogy now.. which is alot of $$

Yep, it all adds up. I thought about this before buying but the reviews swayed me. First blu I have bought all week so I was suffering withdrawal symptoms.

LOL! i know exactly what you mean... i'm in the total opposite position. i think i've added about 10 titles to my collection in the last week so this one is just pushing my limits of control spending.... and to think i said a few weeks ago i wouldn't buy any other blus besides until gladiator! i should know myself better than that. i am an addict :-P

Great deal! I picked this up during the Boxing Day sale...for those hesitating, don't. Firefly is a different feel than ST, much more realistic but not quite as serious as Battlestar...it is much more witty. The writing is terrific in this show and the characterization just outstanding. I have found it to be the most re-watchable sci-fi show yet. I might watch all the episodes maybe once a year or so and I'm always disappointed when the last episode is over.

I blind bought this at the FS? or was it BB? boxing day sale and really enjoyed. Its a good TV series! Then I went out and bought Serenity soon after. I was just wondering it you guys think this is yet another pricing mistake like they did with '300' and '12 monkeys'?

not a pricing error. they tend to have this sale sometimes. i've seen it at this price before so it should be legit.

None that I know of. Amazon.ca does not react quickly, or even at all to most competitor pricing.

so the weirdest thing happened.. after all the good publicity this show got from some of the posters here i was convinced to pick it up... drove to futureshop to get a pm, got there and its priced at 29.99 so i figure okay, they are having the same sale as bb, so i just went to the counter, girl scans it in and it comes up at 79.99, she changes it to 29 for me, but i'm thinkin, wait... shouldnt i get it for 19.99 cuz it scanned in higher? she says no, if the item is individually priced then its just what it says, only if theres a display for the item or the shelf has been stickered at that price, then its 10 bucks off... i said, i dont think so, called the manager over and he says he wont give me the extra 10. then i say, okay i want to price-match bestbuy.. they say no, its stickered at 29.99 so thats what our price is. i was so confused and a little bit ticked. i said whatever and just paid the extra 5 bucks.. but now i'm thinking i coulda ordered it from bestbuy with my digi-dollars ...... whatever, just thought id share.

They owe you $10.

What is the Scanning Code of Practice?

By Kimberley Clancy - www.frugalshopper.ca

The Scanning Code of Practice is a voluntary code that nearly every major retailer in Canada adheres to. It promises the customer accurate price scanning at the register on all UPC scanned or Price Look Up (PLU) merchandise. If an item scans in at a price higher than the shelf price the customer gets it for free (or $10 off if the item is more than $10)

The scanning code is endorsed by The Competition Bureau of Canada was created from the collaborative efforts of the Retail Council of Canada, the Canadian Association of Chain Drug Stores, the Canadian Federation of Independent Grocers and the Canadian Council of Grocery Distributors.

At participating retailers you should see this sign on the entrance doors and at the till that reads:

Scanning Code of Practice If the scanned price of a non-price item is higher than the shelf price or any other displayed price, the customer is entitled to receive the first item free, up to a $10 maximum. If a Code of Practice problem cannot be resolved at the store level, please call 1-866-499-4599 to register your complaint.

thats they key... it says 'SHELF' price... which is what they said to me too. they said to me bcuz the sticker is on the item and not on the shelf, the scanning code of practice does not apply.

whatever.. i just hate that stupid thing, its happened to me 4 times, nobody wants to seems to honor it, and i am never sure what the REAL policy is so i cant argue for it. really pisses me off!
