Default Firefly

I just bought Firefly on Bluray. Disc three would not play on my Sharp Aquous player even though my firmware is up to date. The vender told me it was my player. Sharp says it was the disc and it has been recalled anyone know what's going on?????

All three disks play fine on my PS3 and Oppo Blu-Ray players.

I would say its your player or you have a bad disk.

I can't find anything about a recall of the discs. I would first try exchanging the disc set as defective and see if another set will play in your player. If not, then it would most likely be an issue with the player.

Honestly...you shouldn't have ANY problems if you have the receipt and you are exchanging it for the same set.

Trouble shooting 101: If it plays Discs 1 + 2 and NOT 3 it is the disc. The player does not simply decide it doesn't like disc 3 and they are all encoded the same way.

If you really aren't that sure, try it out in someone's PS3 or stand alone.
99.9932657826% it is the disc.

Haven't heard anything about a recall. Also, Firefly worked fine for me (using a PS3 though). Like fireman325 suggested, I'd try exhanging it (Firefly) first or before doing that, try wiping the disc with a soft cloth even if you don't really see any marks on it.

Sharp appears to have multiple issues with numerous titles, not sure if its the player or the disc, however depending on the model they havent offered an update in awhile, even after the multiple issues with Twilight.

Then adding the mysterious things Fox does to its discs to stop the copying of its discs and companies not being able to offer support fast enough doesnt help either

If you know someone that has a similar player or a PS3 try it in that

I also had a problem with Firefly on my PS3. Disc 2 for me though. 1 and 3 were fine but disc 2 wasn't even recognized (it didn't show up in the "video" menu) icon. I decided to leave the disc in the PS3 while I searched the web for known issues with these discs but about 3-4 minutes later it finally did get recognized. Seems to be fine now....

Patton Oswalt Adds A New Chapter To 'Firefly' Universe With 'Serenity: Float Out'

Quote:
Much like his "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" universe, the world of Joss Whedon's space-based series "Firefly" still manages to live on long after the final episode aired. In June, actor/comedian Patton Oswalt will add yet another chapter to the "Firefly" universe with a one-shot comic titled "Serenity: Float Out," picking up where the 2005 film left off.

Written by Oswalt with interior art by Patric Reynolds and a cover by "Buffy" artist Jo Chen, "Float Out" explores how the end of one character's life spins out into the beginning of a new chapter in the "Serenity" universe.

"Post-'Serenity,' a bunch of Wash's friends who we haven't met on the show, they're basically buying a new ship and christening it," said Oswalt of how the death of Serenity's pilot, Wash (played by Alan Tudyk), plays into the comic. "It’s called a 'float-out' when you christen a ship."

"As they’re christening a new ship, they're telling stories about Wash, and we’re basically seeing what could be the start of a new adventure," he said.

While Oswalt wouldn't divulge which members of Serenity's old crew (if any) appear in the comic, he did share some thoughts about why this particular tale appealed to him. "I had always been kind of bothered by Wash's death," he said.

Of course, "Firefly" fans will be happy to know Oswalt didn't need to do much research for the project, since he was already a huge fan of the series.

"I talked a little bit to Joss, but I was such a huge fan of the show that I didn’t really need to talk to anybody about it. I kind of just knew it," he laughed.

"[Whedon] was just like a lot of really good comic book writers, like Mike Mignola and people like that," said Oswalt of what first attracted him to the series. "He was really starting to populate a universe, just even in the suggestion of people’s slang and what they would reference, you could tell that there’s a whole world developing here. I loved that he was slowly starting to put that together."

"So it was very frustrating to see the show get canceled when a world was starting to come together," he added. "I just wish Fox had given it some more time, I guess."

Given his attachment to the "Firefly" universe, the importance of contributing to the series' canon isn't lost on him, either.

"It's a tiny little chapter, but it’s very flattering," he said. "It's definitely very flattering."

"Serenity: Float Out" hits shelves June 2 from Dark Horse Comics, featuring a story by Oswalt, interior art by Patric Reynolds and a cover by Jo Chen. We have your first, exclusive look at the cover below.

Firefly is obviously just too awesome of a series for most players to handle. Why that series failed I'll never comprehend.

I am going to have to say it is the Player not supporting something.. in almost all cases it is the player's fault for not supporting everything on Blu Ray properly. Ever wonder why everything always works on PS3 but many other players have problems? It is the player where they didn't add support for every type of Blu Ray Live command or what not.

It can be the disc though if it is cracked/damaged.. most BR have very very tiny crack on very outter edge of disc if ther is a problem.

I have read about disc 3 with certain players being a problem in the past though so it has to be the player in this case I think.

Yup, if you try to play something this awesome on anything other than a PS3 it will fail faster than a Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson movie.

obviously your BR player is an alliance and hates the browncoats

in all seriousness is your set new? try contacting fox or whoever owns the rights for distribution or if its new return it, im sure the company who does distribution will replace your disc, if not then they are dicks

If it's only Disc 3....sounds like a defective disc. Exchange it. If the same problem happens on replacement, your player may be the issue.
