Just curious, since there's no "About" section.

mods can only moderate specific forums, super mods can moderate the entire board

PS~ I've been on here for over 2 years and there is still so much I don't and didn't know. Don't know whether to be embarassed about it or just take in stride.

Many of time we all ask the same question to no answers but it doesn't really matter, very rarely on the internet you can come to a site that you like for information and answers to you question without being bother by adds and pop ups for various items.
Here we have only one which is the Amazon links which help maintains the site.
Not to mention the great guys or ladies you can get to know on here.

My advice to you is enjoy the ride it can get bumpy at time.

To add what Moe said: This site is also super-friendly. Lots of people with a great sense of humour!

Since we're talking about the forum so much with this thread and this other one about becoming a reviewer, I've always wanted to know how one becomes a moderator. It's not something I'm interested in doing, as I don't think I could take all the love and hate at once, but I'm just curious.

Wolverine, thanks for the showgroups link. Does that account for who runs the main site as well, or just the forum portion?

Is blu-ray.com owned and operated by a corporation, or is it just a group of folks who happen to be videophiles?

Can I be placed in the "Null Mod" group?

Actually, I just wanted to say props to all those that do contribute and run this site. It is now my favorite site on the web!

I have a question as well....

I saw that the two devolepers on the site joined in 2003, so was the site "under constructioon" for awhile even before blu-rays were announced?

Well, Sony started working on two new projects experimenting with new diodes back in like 1999/2000 and had a prototype at the end of 2000. They announced the blu-ray disc name in 2002 that is when Blu-ray Disc Founder's was started (the original name of the BDA)

Here is a link about it: http://www.sony.net/SonyInfo/News/Pr...0205/02-0520E/

The first actual device was out in 2003.

The final specs for the format were decided upon in 2004 I believe, so blu-ray has been around in concept/prototypes for a while now.
