I just hooked up my Momitsu 799 that arrived today, and it works great. I guess I was expecting a cheapie sort of BD player, or something with poor picture quality... but that's not the case at all. Pic looks just as good as my Panasonic BD35!
One interesting thing to note: In order to watch the Region-B "Being HUman" BD from BBC (which is technically region-free, but has trouble playing on region A machines because it's encoded at 1080i/50hz) I had to change the Momitsu's output from 1080p to 1080i, and then it worked. Same thing with a Region 2 DVD from BBC: it will only play if the output is set to 1080i. I don't think this is an issue with the player... I think it's a problem with the DVD's themselves or how they were encoded. Anyhow, Momitsu gets my vote + a gold star for churning out a $249 region-free BD machine! Woo woooo! Kirby |

I'm not sure, but you can download the spec sheet & instruction manual from hkflix.com. I do know that one audio option is Bitstream HD, so it just sends audio through the HDMI cable... and it did appear to set my receiver to the default Dolby setting for digital audio, although I'm not sure what that one is. I watched a region-2 DVD on this player tonight, at 1080i, and the picture was much much better than the picture I get at 1080i from the Oppo 981. Blu-ray quality on a Region B Blu was also really beautiful.

I bought the Momitsu player in the UK where it is called TEVION 1100UKT $158. ftrom Aldi Supermarket There is no customer support from Curtis Int distributors. Whilst it works it gets very warm and the Red standby light is far too big & bright so can not be used. There is no information regarding the code Nos for multi-region which other posters seem afraid to post. Finally it is not possible to select the individual codecs , it makes a whirring noise but is good value if it can be multi regionised. Sounds very good and the pictures are also OK. Someone please post the 6 digit Nos. Thanks.

I received the Momitsu 799 today, but having a tough time to get the code changing to happen. I'm I missing something? Have (973522) but do you hit another button before or after? And what should be on the screen when you hit the code?

Is anyone having any problems with the 799? I played Wolf and Year One but the player seemed to freeze at certain points during the movie. The movie would freeze temporarily and then resume, so it's not like it skips or anything. Could it be that I need to get the latest firmware?

could you please post the codes for the Momitsu799. I just received mine yesterday from ATACOM and had pretty much the same problem as you did . I called ATACOM and they did not have any idea of region codes. That after they advertised that this was a region-free blue ray player, successor to the Momistsu 899! I guess they are going to have a whole lotta returns if they are not more forthcoming about the codes operadude |

HK Flix gives you the codes don't they? Are you sure they aren't the same as the 899? If not, how would anyone be able to find them? I mean, the region changing codes would seem to be pretty important for this player. I don't know of too many people that would be buying this machine other than for a region free player!

It would be very helpful if someone posts the codes here, it appears quite a few people have the code and have watched region B BDs successfully operadude |

As soon as mine arrives from HK Flix i will post the codes. If you look at my posting history you will see a previous post where I listed all the codes for the Momitsu BDP899. But from what people are saying I guess those codes do NOT work for the 799 model? Seems odd that they would be different?
