Default A question about HD DVD discs

I dont own any HD DVD discs nor do I intend on ever doing so. I also have never even seen an HD DVD disc.

The question is they have 15 GB and 30 GB right?

In order to have a 30 GB do they have 15 on one side and have to flip it to 15on the other side? Or do they have 30 GB dual layer on one side and 30 GB on the other for a total of 60 GB?

If that is the case, how is 60 GB bad? everyone talks about how they dont have any space but that would create more space then a 50 GB BD right?

Ya, DUAL layer is the key here. Hence on DVD Dual Layer is 8ishGB instead of 4.7GB.

hd dvd has hd dvd/dvd combo discs with have hd dvd on one side(dule layer or singel layer) and dvd on the other side.

and dosent realy matter if hd dvd has 51 or 60 gigs u still only have 30 mbits of bandwith(blu-ray has 48mbits)

That is pretty much the key factor isnt it?

They could have a 51gb disc and it will still only have a 30mbit bandwith?

They are highly inaccurate since they only take into account Amazon sales ranks.

well if you think about it, amazon is a huge retail market. I should hope that they are not accurate.

Nielsen would be the most accurate right?

Amazon sales ranks literally change minute to minute. Let's say for example Fox announces 10 titles, or Universal. All of asudden people rush to pre-order them for some unknown reason, like they're not going to be able to buy it later. This bumps the respective rankings up artificially.

Nielsen is the official tracking company of the entire industry

The only accurate way of doing it would be to count the discs actually leaving their doorstep every day

as others have said, it's a 30gig dual layer on one side.

as to the theoretical potential of two dual layer sides for a total of 60gig, then you do realize that the same theoretical potential for two dual layer sides for a total of 100gig exists for BD, right?

in which case, 100gig is still >> 60gig.

HD DVD loses again.

You don't have to flip anything they are double layered. Everyone already knows this. The reason why I asked was to see if you were truly an BD supporter.
Your question was that bad! I'm sorry to say. I'm not trying to be mean.

If you hadn't bought any BD movies on the 18th, I was going to tell you to buy a couple BD movies and not worry about this post.

lol, not trying to be mean.

I know that blu and HD DVD are double layered. I was well aware of that. I just didnt know if HD DVD had a double layer on both sides. That was the question

inaccurate, includes only Amazon. hddvd had more releases in the last quarter. This should explain their little sales spike.

Its mostly FUD coming from the hddud camp!!!

don't worry, you chose wisely with Blu-ray.
