I don't see ANY Momitsu BD players on Amazon? Did you buy it from a 3rd party seller?

Hello everyone,
Long time reader, first time poster. Is it possible that the Momitsu sold by Atacom has not been "modified" to be region-free? I only ask because my wife just ordered a player for me for Christmas and now I notice that there is no mention of it being region-free on their website. If someone could confirm or deny, I'd appreciate it as we'll need to return it ASAP if it's not region free.
Thanks!

Or, if no one here has purchased the BD-799 from Atacom and can provide me with info, I would appreciate it if someone who has purchased it from hkflix could provide me with the 6 digit code. Thanks.

Default Code & Firmware Update

Please good people be kind and share the code for the benefit of the rest.

And is it advisable to use the BDP-899 Firmware Update (08-28-2009) as
BDP-799 does not have any updates on Momitsu's website? Thank you

I love the 799. It actually has better picture quality than my Panasonic BD35, believe it or not.

The HKFlix ask that you not post the region-unlock codes on the web... not sure why. But when you enter the code, you won't see anything happen on your TV -- there's no indication that the code was accepted. So the codes don't open it up to all regions, you have to tell it what region you want it to play. I keep the Momitsu for Region-B BD's and R2 DVD's (keeping my panasonic bd35 for American releases), so I only had to set the code once. If you want to hop back and forth between regions, you'll need to enter the new code before switching to the new region.

If the 799 is like the 899, the BD code will reset to "A" whenever it's powered down.

If you have a Harmony, i think you can program it to punch the code automatically for you. Never tried that, since i don't have the player yet..

I'm convinced now that the 799 has a hard time playing newer releases. I think it needs a new firmware.

Default Remote Codes for Momitsu BDP-799

Here are the codes for the BDP-799.
From a nice person over at Momitsu. I bought mine from extremepcgear.com and they were kind enough to pass on my request.

I want to do the same since WVbkelley didn't have the courtesy to answer my PM regarding the codes.

Here is the email:

Momitsu BDP-799 Region Changing Instructions

You can alter the player's region code at any time using the remote control.
*
1) Keep no disc loading , and press 8751+0+1 or 2,
0 stand for DVD free zone,
1 or 2 stand for BD A or BD B zone.
can not enter BD free mode or open mode. But it can be changed at anytime

You have 3 codes which you input and enter via the player's remote control:
875101 is Region A plus all 6 DVD regions.
875102 is Region B plus all 6 DVD regions.
875103 is Region C plus all 6 DVD regions
*
2) Please set the DVD region as "1"
Because some of DVD disc require player to be region 1 in order to play.
It is the disc set up so just match the player with disc region sould be fine.
*
875111 is Region A plus US DVD region1.
875112 is Region B plus US DVD region1.
875113 is Region C plus US DVD region1.
*
*
Thank you

I haven't had a single issue with ANY discs I've tried on this model! I think its a steal at the price HKFlix offers! I'm actually using this machine more than my PS3's now. GREAT GREAT piece of hardware. A+++ machine. Can't say enough good things about it...

Mine doesn't... I set it to RegionB once, and it has stayed on RegionB ever since.

From the HKflix web site this morning: "We apologize for any inconvenience, but HKFlix has temporarily stopped offering hardware for sale so that we can focus on films. Please check back for updates as they become available."

Default Momitsu 799 Region-Specific Video Problem?

I just bought a 799 and input the unlock code 875101. It plays Blu-Rays A & B plus Region 1 DVD's, but when I try Region 2 and 4, all it plays is the sound, no picture. Anyone encountered this?

Default Problem trying the firmware update

I downloaded the firmware and unzipped it and dragged the file to my USB jump drive and input into the player and nothing happened. Any suggestions or steps I may be missing?

Describe the steps and what happened.

I ended up with the folder BDP-799_FW_ENG_091118 (50.9MB)
inside the folder product_software_update (DAT) and another folder with 8 files: product_software_update (DAT), autorun (PL file), MTC_DRM-00000031 (BIN), spash_mom.yuv (YUV), ucfe-2.1.20-7601-b0-v10-ucfe-PRODUCTION-le-secure-signed (BIN), cfe-2.1.20-7601-b0-v10-cfe-PRODUCTION-le-secure-signed.elf (ELF), splash.yuv (YUV), squashfs-7601b0 (IMG), vmlinuz-2624.7_368-7601 (7_368-7601)

As soon as you plug the USB stick in the 799, a pop-up window should appear concerning the firmware update.

As far as I remember, there was exactly ONE file and ONE folder (with like 8 files in it) on the USB stick root directory.

I also had to try two times to update, as I first formatted my USB stick in FAT32 which seemed to be the problem, as my second try with a FAT partition worked.

Can you confirm the name of the files on the USB stick.
