Default My Post-Modern Home Theater

Hey guys,

I have made some minor changes to my HT and attached some new photos (check below). I also changed the title. I called my HT "post-modern" because I have added a few classical elements to my otherwise modern setting, just to contrast.

I have also posted my upgraded HT at Home Theater Forum and Systems - HomeTheaterShack.com.

Hi everyone,

I have posted my HT room photos on the AVS forum. When I found this forum, I was so excited to see so many beautiful set-ups from you guys. I just couldn't wait to share mine. it seems that JBL speakers are not so popular here, but I love the sound quality of those speakers. Here is my set-up, all from Harman family:

Receiver/Amp: Harman Kardon AVR3600HD, Dish HD VIP722 Receiver
Speakers: JBL all the way: Main L880x2, Center LC1, Side LS326Wx2, Rear ES10x2, Subs: L8400Px2
Players: Sony BX57, PS3 fat, JVC SA DVD-Video/Audio Player, HK HD990 CD player
Display : Optoma HD20, Da-lite 106” Motorized White Screen
Power: Berlkin Power PF60 power conditioner
Remote: Logitech Harmony 900
Please check the photos of my setup in my HT gallery. Comments are welcome.

I said this in your gallery, but you did an awesome job on that room. I think that is the first time I've seen the HD20 is a dedicated room of that size and it really does look great in your screen shots. I have the same unit but I only wish I had a space like that to work with

Great job. It looks very comfortable, almost like a glorified dedicated family room. I have not heard JBL's, but those that own them love their sound. I think you did a great job in there, and it is all the most impressive since you did the work yourself!

Thanks. Yes, HD20 is real cool. However, the black level seems a liitle lacking.

You Have a Beautiful Set-Up.

In every Aspect and Piece, they all fit together Wonderfully to Create a Great Home Theater.

I Am Thrilled that you have a Dedicated Room that you could Build to ShowCase the Love and Passion You Share for this Wonderful Hobby and LifeStyle.

The Framing of the Screen by the curtains looks excptional. And really gives the Front of the Theater a Professional Look(Like in a Commercial Cinema)

Then the Built In Rack for your Components provide a Wonderful Look and Feel of a True Theater. Its a Nice Addition to See the Components away from the Front of the Room.

And You Chose Beautiful Seating For your Theater.I Love the Dedicated seats with the Cupholders. And adding the Platform to elevate the second row for clearance is a touch I always enjoy seeing.

Every Touch,Decoration,Accessory, and Piece of the Room Blends in to Create a Wonderful Space.

Then the Components are Great Performers.Harman has a Huge Family under the Umbrella with HK,JBL,Infinity, etc.

HK AVR's have been Top Performers and Considered First Rate Since I can remember HK getting into Home Theater.
So,you have a Great Performer as the Brains and Brawn of your system(with the Harman Kardon AVR)

And another Great Choice with the Optoma Line of Projectors.
They receive Great Reviews and Provide outsanding Performance and Image Quality with All of their HD Models.

And I have never seen anything wrong with JBL Speakers.
Like many Big Companies they have a range from the inexpensive speakers to High End Audiophile Caliber Speakers.
Speakers that would Make Any Movie SurroundTrack or Any CD or Album Sound as if you were right there as a part of the Performance.

So from Top to Bottom your entire Home Theater Set-Up is Exceptional.
I Certainly Love it.And Like I am with So Many Home Theaters,I see them as a Source of Inspiration and Motivation. And Yours Easily Provides me with Both.

So,Welcome To The Forum and Thanks for Feeling that you can share your Passion and Love of Home Theater with us.

Thank you for the compliment. Actually, I didn't do it "by myself", my father-in-law helped a lot, so did some of my friends.

Quiong, you have done an excellent job with both your home theater room and your game room! I think your use of red curtains around the screen really brought a lot of atmosphere, and it provided that desired theate look. I bet movies look and sound great in that room.

I'd love to see more photos of the adjoining game room as well. My game room and home theater space are combined into one large room. If I had separate areas for each, I think they probably would have looked similar in decor to your space.

Great job!

Thanks. Originally I wanted the game room to be together with the theater room. But these two spaces were separated by the utility room. Wife wanted to soften the tone of the theater, that was why we used the red curtains. My game room was not finished yet. We have yet to build a real bar. Right now the bar is a tempary set. When the bar area is complete, I will post more pics.
