Star Trek Season 1 The Original Series

I bought Season 1 of Star Trek: The Original Series yesterday at Best Buy and when I watch it the sound is VERY low and I have to crank the volume. Im running 5.1 surround with an optical cable. Is there a reason it is sooo low?

The sound level on all of the Star Trek Original Series episodes seems low compared to my other titles.

I have the same audio setup as you, and the HD DVD version of this season set. I usually have my sound system set to the mid-30s. With the same equipment, my Trek Remastered needs to be set at mid-50s to mid-60s to get the same volume as other discs. I can't believe how high I'm cranking this thing. The sound is fine, but I get a terrible jolt if I don't remember to lower the volume the next time I turn on the sound system.
