Default 3.2 Firmware Now Available

Sony uploaded 3.2 to their server, but haven't linked it to their web page yet:

ftp://download.sony.com/US/bluray/UP...S1_VER0320.EXE

By the way, Ratatouille doesn't load as fast on the BDP-S1 as it does on the PS3. It loads on the BDP-S1 at the usual, somewhat slow speed we have all come to know and love (well...). Ratatouille loads on the PS3 like all Blu-ray discs do, like discs load on DVD players!

I haven't tried 3.2 yet (will tonight), but I hope it fixes a small problem with a special feature of Ratatouille freezing. I had to finish watching it on the PS3.

Thanks for the link. I loaded it up but not sure what it updates.

I tested Ratatouille:

PS3: With the system already on it will be 1:45 from inserting the movie to the disney castle appearing.

S1: With the system already on it will be 4:29 from inserting the movie to the disney castle appearing.

However not sure if this new updates is causing freak outs. I've managed to confuse the player a few times after loading it.

As long as you get the original UPC code from the box, you should be eligible for the 5 movies rebate (with the receipt as well, of course.) The unit they gave me *surprisingly* came with the box, unlike most best buy open box purchases I have made.

For this player I don't think it will happen. I believe there may not be enough on board memory and the ability to support dual video streams.

What do they say this is supposed to fix? Does it have only to do with the Rat movie?

I agree the resume feature is poor, but I do find it will resume from shut off if you do not remove the disk.

I'm not sure I understand. I watched Spiderman 3 recently and when I stopped the movie - it says "Resume Off". And I can't resume the movie from where I left off. Can you explain what you mean "it will resume from shut off". Thanks.

Make sure Nero is set to burn DVD image rather than burn CD image.

Default Stupid me needs audio help

My firmware is up to date, and I use HDMI to connect to Sony STRDA5300ES receiver. When I play a disk with Dolby TrueHD 5.1, the panel on the receiver only shows Dolby Digital. My understanding is the player decodes, but does not pass the TrueHD, so I should just see PCM on the receiver panel, yes or no? Which means to me my player settings are wrong, yes?

For TrueHD decoding the HDMI setting on the player must be changed from Auto to PCM.

I wonder then what is the deal with my player... It seems that EVERYTHING loads so slow these days.. Could it be something with the firmware update?

Default New Pixar Disney Discs

Newest BluRay Pixar Disney discs do not play on the Sony BDP S-1

Ironically, have played dozens of other non Blu and some Blu discs

But Ratatouille and other Pixar releases stall, freeze, etc.

With a caveat to install the newest firmware . . .
