Ethernet?
BD1.1? BD-Live? Curious omissions for a "Flagship" player. Even if upgradeable, the lack of a firm message on this is a strking omission. Last edited by blublublu; 09-06-2007 at 01:08 AM. |

But, i'm no early adopter and if i'm going to shell out the big bucks for a reference system, I think i'll wait till next year's "ES" model which should have: -Ethernet -BD Live (Profile 2.0) -Dolby True HD and DTS-HD Master internal decoding AND bitstream output (user decides) -999$ (next years Sony models should be 299, 499 & 999 as opposed to 499, 699 & 1299) In the mean time and/or until the format war is over, the PS3 will do just fine... especialy since it's supposed to eventualy get internal DTS-HD Master Audio decoding. I am truly dissapointed in knowing that sony's fifth and first ever ES blu player does not decode dts-hd master audio...this is a major blow....ppl talk about boycotting paramount and dreamworks, well i think we should just hold off on buying a blu-ray player till they come out with the internal decoding of dts-hd master audio...this sux guys..u feel me?

Hey not sure if this was posted or not. The new sony BDP-S2000ES will send the new audio signals via bitstream to recievers. I have the new onkyo 805 so I was excited to hear this. Everyone I have talked to at AVS and heard said that the PS3 will not ever be able to send it bitstream. I just wish this player was not 1200 dollars. Anyways, Don't think it makes a big difference if it's Linear PCM or Sent Bitstream as long as it is decoded and sent to the speakers. Thanks for reading my thoughts. Go BLu Buyothon Tommorow!

Sony's website shows a new ES series Blu-ray. But looking at specs shows:
![]() dts®-HD Decoding Hi-resolution Audio: N0; HDMI™ bitstream out: Yes dts®-HD Decoding-2 Master Audio: No; HDMI™ bitstream out: No http://www.sonystyle.com/webapp/wcs/...52921665228713 For a high-end player (~$1300.00 retail) shouldn't these be available? Any thoughts? TIA. |

I love how they keep spreading false information with no proof behind what they are screaming. No one has heard anything! Sony has neither confirmed or denied that they are unable to bitstream out of the PS3. The only people who would be able to confirm this would be the people over at DTS or Sony. Neither of which has said anything...

You can download the latest firmware from Sony and burn the image to a DVD-R. Once the disc has been created simply place it in the player and let the blu-ray player do it's thing.
For the latest firmware check this thread: https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread.php?t=27821 |

I think you may be the first 2000ES owner here.
Can you post some impressions? |
