HDV mpeg2 stream suitable blue ray? - Blu-ray Forum

hi there,

can anybody tell me if the mpeg2 stream created with consumer hdv camcorders (like Sonys HDR-FX1) is suitable for blue ray / hd-dvd without the need of reencoding the mpeg2 stream? If so in which format should i store the video on my hard disc to archive it until the first recorders become available?

From what ive seen your best bet is to capture your footage as hdv using final cut pro 5 then export it as h.264 when those nifty blu ray drives come out. If you don't have a mac (very likely) then maybe avid but I think that final cut pro is the only one that edits hdv nativley with out converting it to some intermediate codec.
