what reciever do i need for HD sound in uk - Blu-ray Forum

Can someone in the uk tell me about any cheap recievers that can do the HD sound formats.Theres alot of these sets where the reciever is a dvd player too would i be able to run a hdmi cable from the ps3 into the back of it or is that hdmi socket on the dvd player just for the picture to the tv.Im looking for one about £200 its a bit confusing

Sorry to say it but you're going to have to shell out quite a bit more than £200 to get what you want. The cheapest you are likely to get is from ONKYO but they have high power consumption and run very hot.
Save up and go for a Pioneer LX60 or LX70. I run a LX70, wow what a unit but at a premium price.
With HD audio it is not worth trying to botch it and with £200 that is what you are trying to do

Considering the announcement of the popping from the DTS chip in the Onkyo's. I think your next cheapest option is Denon.

The cheapest HD audio amps are £400, which is probably Onkyo and co.

Well cant afford to pay that just for sound and i only have a little room anyway i'll have to do with the dts 1.5mps although i heard someone say it does sound a whole lot better than the dts youd find on a dvd it is nearly double the bitrate i believe.Or can you still get the 1.5mps with a dvd ?? did you just need a blu ray player to hear more of it.
