To the OP:
Go to Amazon and search on this title "Dark Water [Blu-ray]"
You will get two hits even though it is the same title. There may be other duplicate titles but I found this one and wanted to pass it along.

Don't rely on any numbers at productwars.com they are just there for entertainment purposes.

For most part, people here are friendly and provide very constructive comments about blu-ray. As the name of the forum suggests, WE are definitely *biased* towards blu-ray </applause>. Of late, we've experienced some trolls come in under the guise of being neutral. Therefore, there is a healthy skepticism about stats being thrown in our faces - stats that don't reflect our own daily trackings (Amazon thru eproductwars, dvdempire, Nielsen-Videoscan, etc.).

There are a lot of people here who step in and will defend - upto a point -, giving benefit-of-doubt to "neutral" posters. Ascended, TheKnub, Fuad, are good examples - amongst a whole lot of others.

Everybody else:
I think HDAddicts, being a retailer, has to necessarily sit on the fence of this format war. Hopefully, we will be able to convince him - through providing numbers from retail sales, and more directly by depleting his stock of blu-rays - that BD is the way to go!

That's my $0.02.

Rup.

Thanks. I do have to sit on the fence, and also watch my use of the dreaded word "HD DVD" in here.

I speak unbiased on this matter...I see why people would want HD-DVD or why people would get a player...

there are a few movies on HD-DVD that aren't on BD yet...like Batman Begins...plus the low pricetag...

but when you look deeper....you get what you pay for....since in the longrun, BD will dwarf HD-DVD ridiculously....

Once I clarify this, all I usually get is "oh". But the damage is already done, with 100 people seeing my link with comments saying the prices are too high.
Don't worry, not all of us fail to look properly. The currency tab was one of the first things I noticed, I changed it to Euros (even though we're in £s over here) and I have to say that your prices seem very reasonable - compared that is to the prices in the UK.

And you're quite right to compare your site to Amazon. Business to business comparison can be conducted if the businesses are the same regardless of quantities sold by the respective companies. You sell the same as Amazon so the fluctuations in demand you encounter will be the same as Amazon.

Just for the record, I would like to say that I am biased towards Blu-ray. The difference is that I am biased by the facts that Blu-ray is a superior format and winning the format war. If the facts change to reflect something different, then so will I.

The best way to put it is that I try my best to see things for what they are. Of course, FUD makes that harder to do, so I end up giving Blu-ray the benefit of the doubt 'til proven otherwise.

Good luck with the site and your business. I bookmarked it and will check it from time to time. The US prices are comparable to others I have seen. I am primarily going to rent these formats, not buy for the most part.
