Default Heroes Season 1 Announced On Hd-what About Blu-ray?

I just found out through my distributor that Heroes Season 1 is being released on HD on August 28th with a MSRP of $99.98 on 7 Discs

The Studio is Universal so we can only hope they will come to the Blu-Ray Side and do the same for Blu-Ray as well.

Yup, we'll have to wait until Universal goes neutral for stuff like this.

Heroes isn't all that important to me, but Battlestar Galactica will be a different matter. I really want that on Blu. If you want a good show to watch in the meantime, I highly recommend Rescue Me which is coming to Blu-ray (season 3) in a couple weeks. Great show

Well we all knew this was coming..... Universial could have huge sales if Heroes was coming out on BD. They keep ignoring the BD sales figures which is ridiculous.

Pointless? I don't think so.
Even though Universal is the only non-blu ray studio right now they will eventually crossover.
With a release like this even though it's not on blu-ray its pointing in the direction that all the other Blu-Ray Studios should be releasing current seasons in the fall not only on dvd as they normally do but on Blu-Ray as well.

I wasnt aware that this was going to be available in Aug.

I also agree with the OP. I hope Universal comes around so we can get great shows like this.

I like Heroes and would like it in HD disc...

$100 seems like a lot for a season. 23 episodes IIRC.

Anything that retails around $100 you will probably be able to get for around $70

well it is... what, 23 episodes at about 45 minutes an episode? That's at least 1000 minutes right there. Since HD DVD can easily do what was it, a 240 minute movie with multiple tracks using VC-1 easily (old lord of the rings #'s), it should only take four HD DVDs to do it.

I wonder why it's going to seven discs. Less compression maybe? Differences between film and TV level HD recordings? More discs equals a higher price that can be charged? Incompetence? Who knows.

Suffice to say that this is an easy purchase for me. Well, if I was buying HD DVD but I'm not. My wife and I adore the show. After watching it in HD there is no way I can watch it on DVD. And since I sold off the single HD DVD that I bought back in April 06, there's no way I'm getting more. I'll bide my time. There'll be repeats on TV if I'm "desperate.' Hell, UHD will probably air it sometime as well.

Damn Universal lol this is 1 of my few shows that I really want... but since I've began investing in Blu Ray already I will not be purchasing this on regular DVD. I just hope that my other 2 shows (both Buene Vista releases LOST and Desperate Housewives) will follow suite and have a Blu Ray version along side the DVD release ... otherwise I'll just have to wait until they do ...

I would buy Heroes on Blu-ray, it's a great show almost makes me want to buy HD DVD player....almost. Maybe will be luck and any studio will have to rights to release the show in UK or Japan, then we could import it.

This defenitely not a pointless thread.

Heroes is a great show that would probably look amazing on Blu-Ray. It saddens me Universal is doing all this HD-DVD-only release crap; Children of Men was made for blu-ray and this series....damn! :-(

Anyway, glad I DOWNLOADED IT

:P

They could price it higher and I'd buy it. This is my favorite show on television. Man, the second season is kicking ass. I'm definitely buying this when it comes out in August.

You know what, I think you're right. Thank you. That is awesome because I thought I'd have to wait for season 2 to get the episode where Hiro goes 5 years into the future. That episode was SICK!!! I thought they were on season 2 because a month went by with no new episodes.
