Default My Dad....WOW....What's Wrong With Him

ok so in maine this memorial day weekend he came out and said..."blu ray has yet to impress me....and that his up converting Samsung DLP looks just as good as on his ps3. i went off on him. he has all hdmi cables and the whole bunch...how can he say this? then im like well on my tv i can tell the difference..he was like well my tv is better than yours.

i have a Phillips 42PFL7422D 42" LCD TV. He has a Samsung HL-S5687W

I've heard people say the same thing and the first thing i advise is for them to get an eye appointment A.S.A.P ... The difference between Blu and upconverting is clearly night and day.

I really do not know what to tell you. But i agree with the previous poster. The differences are night and day.

What setup was he looking at them on. We need more info. Maybe he is sour over the HDDVD player in the basement.

Tell him to stop sitting 20 feet away!

Seriously, 1080i DLP? He's kidding himself if he thinks 6 Mbps MPEG-2 480i looks the same as 30 Mbps MPEG-4 1080p.

No contest.

I don't mean to be rude or anything but he might be color blind.

What size is the DLP and what's the model number?

I have a 61" DLP by Samsung (HL-R6168W) and my friend who has a 52" XBR4 does not believe me when I tell him that my TV is only 1080i.

When watching Blu's on my TV via PS3 it looks very good.
I'm sitting approximately 11 feet from the TV.

Here's a link to the product brochure for this model:
