Not yet. But the first (OVA) is not likely anytime soon, as it is much older than the more recent CG movies. The first CG movie (part of a new trilogy) has no date, but it is highly likely it will. The third is not out, still being made, and will most likely be on Blu.

The original OVA was handpainted cels captured on film, and could very well come out on Blu if the original film elements are still available (some even more niche stuff is coming out on Blu in Japan, so it wouldn't surprise me if they were still available). No self-respecting company in Japan would ever release an upscaled video master on Blu for a non-digital OVA.

There's plenty of proof out there that they're HD remasters, I've even posted where you can get it (booklet for the Gundam 0083 box set with interviews and pictures showing the HD remaster process, extras in the original Gundam DVD box set showing them re-scanning the film, links to AV Watch). You just choose to ignore it.
These are not "clean-ups" of composite masters as you've posted before. For an example of that, see the Media Blasters release of Iria (Zeiram The Animation) compared to the R1 Image release with its unfiltered composite artifacts, and then the R2 Japanese release which uses a new component master. And speaking of proof, what is your source for the Appleseed OVA being 16mm? Most OVAs are 35mm. |

A print doesn't have much bearing on how the cels and backgrounds were originally transferred.

Char's Counterattack and F91 are on Blu in Japan. No subs, but they look absolutely beautiful. 00 will be coming out as well, but its not likely to have subs either.

I own counter attack on dvd, and a few episodes of others... Well now it just needs to make it stateside... bandai I command you... I remember bandai made some announcement about gundam 00... http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news...undam-00-anime "The North American distributor Bandai Entertainment has announced at its New York Comic Con 2008 panel on Friday that it has licensed the Mobile Suit Gundam 00 anime series and the Ghost Slayers Ayashi manga. Director Seiji Mizushima (Fullmetal Alchemist) remade the Gundam robot anime mythos for the 25-episode Gundam 00 television series which aired from last October to this past March. The story takes place on an Earth fractured by the control of energy and centers on four Gundam Meister pilots who execute a controversial plan to eradicate war. " ![]() ![]() |

Yeah, I know. The official UC Gundam subs have a lot of errors and liberal translations, especially when they use "Feddies" and "Zeeks" all the time in situations when the Japanese just says "Federation" and "Zeon" in a non-derogatory manner. The guy who did the subs for CCA, Kevin McKeown, really messed up Banner of the Stars as well from what I heard. And don't get me started on the Z Gundam subtitles that were further from Japanese than the English dub... at least they partially fixed those.

I only listen to a few things in English. And usually only when I am doing something else like eating or drawing or talking... I like to have shows on in the background sometimes.
But if I am actually watching (and not eating) the show, Japanese with subtitles. Sure the subtitles are wrong sometimes, but I can figure out enough Japanese to tell how wrong they are usually and it doesn't bother me. Someday i hope to turn them off and keep them off, and understand all the Japanese perfectly... someday. |

I clearly remember watching Escaflowne and Cowboy Bebop in Japanese with subtitles on my DVDs... Did I misunderstand you there? |
