this sounds goofy, but what if Sony or other companies offered free Blu-ray themed T-shirts or other gear with movie purchases. We'd win by getting free stuff and they would win by having consumer awareness of Blu-ray's existence increased. What do you think?

![]() And, if they gave them to vendors in bulk, most of those would go to employees who would only wear them as under-shirts or lounge around the house t-shirts. And, if they had an offer card advertisement inside the Blu-ray case to have one sent to you for purchasing the Blu-ray, it would cost them a ton more in shipping than it already costs them to advertise on TV. I love the creativity behind getting the Blu-ray brand out there, but it's just not very feasible in this case. |

A free gallon of gas for every Blu-ray bought! lol jk. I kind of agree with the OP. I think companies should really get creative on their sales. Like I think they should do more of those $7.50 movie tickets. Exclusive packaging, booklets, coupons, etc.

I would gladly wear a Blu Ray shirt I may only wear it to the Y weight lifting but a lot of people would see it. But then if I were to waste time downtown shoppin for Blu Rays naurally they would get free press. But I can understand what Petra Kalbrain is saying even if you have a Blu Ray t-shirt how many people will know or more to the point care what it is.

Or couldn't they get retailers (like at Best Buy for ex.) to wear uniforms that say "Ask me about Blu-ray"? Maybe Sony could give money to Best Buy in exchange for it ![]() |

People that buy Blu, buy it for it's content. Gimmicks are not going to work on this demographic.
What Blu-ray needs is for people to buy the players, and a $10 shirt is not going to make someone spend $300 on a player. A fee player with purchase of an HDTV...that would be more in the ballpark of what would work and would better target the right audience and achieve the right goals. Honestly, I think your just making a far fetched plea for free stuff...because it's certainly not a viable marketing strategy. |
