The BDA doesn't want potentially high selling blockbusters on Blu-Ray.

As a matter of fact, they most absolutely will, along with all of the LOTR movies.

"The Matrix" collection is supposed to be out before the end of the year. The "Alien" series is supposed to be in the works for next year.

It took YEARS for DVD to get some of the biggest films and you're expecting Blu-ray to get all of them right away?

It don't work like that!

if they have been DNRed to death to get rid of the grain I will not buy. Film should look like film. It is not a video game it is not video. I want it just as it was shot. I'm pretty sure the director knew what they were doing and grain was part of that.

These are guaranteed hits and all we seem to get are announcments for movies that most people consider a good rent at best.

I don't get it, why don't people think before posting? Someone already said it took 6 years for Indiana Jones and 7 for Star Wars... There's a reason for that, they waited for the format to stabilize. Blu-Ray is new, there's flaws just like any other format. It's important to get all these things worked out before releasing a big title like Star Wars or Lord of the Rings. Imagine they release these films now, and then find out in a year they could've done a better job. I don't mean to sound rude here, but just wait and stop complaining.

what do you people expect from Lucas, the same movies that were shown in the theaters back in 1977 in HD on blu-ray???? It takes a long time to "re-master" these movies for blu-ray and add in his "new visions" of star wars, which includes farting banthas, Small CGI critters with human facial expressions, and most importantly adding more of Hayden Christiansen into Return of the Jedi.

and for Indy, Short Round needs to be CGI'd.

Id rather wait a few years down the road for the super big titles (excluding Back to the Future...cause Id triple dip that title) so I can get the releases with its special features all in HD and not a dvd ported with dvd resolution special features....it annoys me when my tv has to flash to the 480i from 1080p when I want to watch a deleted scene or whatnot....ggrr!.....but anyways, I want to make sure that Universal and others now how to encode their movies properly so I dont have to double dip everything.....like with warner releasing FULL Metal Jacket with a better transfer and PCM sound......

True, I would rather have the BEST version available then some bare bones package with a shoddy transfer, but its so hard to wait!

When standalone player prices reach $199 and start moving some serious units, you'll start seeing some bigger blockbusters released. Plus, studios have to have a reason to release certain titles. It's the ol' "tie-in" deal. We'll probably see Jurassic Park released when part 4 hits theaters. That's after a large amount of players have been sold. There's no reason to release that title right now.
