circuit city's website has been updated to show a release date of tuesday, 7/15.

i'm debating whether or not to order online... i could get free shipping from sony or amazon, but it'd bet nice to have a brick-and-mortar place to return it if something goes wrong... seems like that might be worth the $30 extra in sales tax.

I had virtually the same debate in my own head last week. I could wait until I could get free shipping from Amazon or until I could just pick it up at Circuit City... But I decided it was worth paying $30 shipping with Sony to get it right away. And I'm glad I did. It's SOOOoooOooo much faster than the 300, a single button will switch my TV to HDMI and start playing the BD, and it fully supports Bravia synch.

that's good to hear... i played around with a 300 and a 500 late last year and loading time was the main reason why i chose not to buy.

I am not a happy camper. Sony just informed me that my BDP-S350 wont be shipping now until Saturday! Darn that means a longer wait.

I just was contacted by sony and they are sending my player out tomorrow!!!! They had some problems with Fed Ex but that was resolved. Thank god.

Sony's website indicated it was shipping to me July 19th and I recieved the player last Friday the 11th. I'm quite happy with the player and am glad I upgraded from my 300.

I ordered mine on Sat. with a ship date of 7/14 (today). Just checked the status and mine is scheduled to ship on the 19th!! Hope this is the same mistake as above!!

The 19th showed up as ship date last Thursday followed by an e-mail with FedEx tracking info an hour later. I ended up getting the player next day (on Friday). In other words don't pay attention to the 19th ship date.

I can't wait to hear how well these new players perform. I am seriously thinking about replacing my S301 with the S350. If it does well on DTS-HD MA, I will definitely get one.

Mine is scheduled to ship on the 14th according to the email. So hopefully it did ship. With any luck, if it shipped from Chicago I will have it by Wed/Thu.

Same here! Weds is the big for me as well. Now lets hope that Fed Ex dont bust it up before it gets to me! But I cant wait for this Weds.

I am very much looking forward to buying this player but I was wondering
if anybody could tell me their experience with SONY on warranty issues
with the 300 model? I bought a Panasonic 6 months ago and it's already
having problems not playing discs. Even though it's under the mfg warranty
I still have to box the thing up and ship it out of state...on my dime.
Never heard of a company not having authorized dealers close to home
before.
How does SONY handle a warranty claim?

Also-- if there's a firmware update-- does SONY ship the disc to you at your
request as opposed to downloading it off the web? Panasonic did this and I
liked this option better since I'm an idiot with computers
