here's the review of a french website on the bluray of Godfather:

"Note image : 2.5/5 une restauration un peu décevante, avec du bon et du très moyen : parfois un manque de contraste, parfois des noirs un peu bouchés, parfois du bruit vidéo "à la Battlestar Galactica", et quelques rares plans qui rappellent du DVD de mauvaise facture, ce qui donne un ensemble inégal.

Note son : bien (étant donné l'age du film)"

I translate: the restoration is disappointing.. lack of contrast,the blacks are too blacks, grainy like "Battlestar Galactica", and some shots that look like the worst Dvd transfer.

Audio: well..considering the age of the film.


This kind of review is not rare in France.French professional reviewers and consumers lack knowledge, and they still don't know what film grain is. Movies such as "Gladiator" is considered to be one of the best tranfers
