I've been waiting for the 2nd one as well before buying this. Also would like to see MIB 2 released. Come on Sony!

GB2 and MIB2 will both probably be released to promote the third film in each of those franchises when they come around.

Hmmm, you just made the top of my "People who just make shit up around here" list. It's a useful list to have.

Was that necessary? A lot of people thought the same master for the DVD was used for the BD when it first came out, including...

Going into this Blu-ray edition of 'Ghostbusters,' I was concerned Sony would use the same so-called "remastered" version from the botched 2005 double-feature DVD gift set. To my disappointment, those fears are justified with this 1080p/AVC MPEG-4 transfer looking suspiciously similar to that master.

...which is why The Digital Bits had to verify it.

There's a big difference between suspecting something is possibly true and making a definitive statement declaring it as true (particularly when a modicum of research would prove otherwise).

I'm not always right, but when I know I'm just speculating, I always try to preface what I'm saying with "I think..." or "I'm guessing that..." or some other appropriate qualifier. I seriously don't like FUD spreaders.

Where the hell is GB2 already?

The first movie needs a better blu release too. Won't buy the first until I know the 2nd is on its way.

What's the difference? And, for the record, the first Ghostbusters is how it's supposed to look, so . . . no better release to be had.

This is one of my all time favorites and I want my fellow Blu ray posters to inform me, is this worth the upgrade from my DVD? Is it at least a moderate improvement? I care more about PQ than AQ btw.

It's a decent upgrade. The last DVD version makes for a great upconvert though. For $10 it's worth it.

I could live without MiB 2, but Ghostbusters II was a film of my childhood that I actually liked.

Except for some brief contrast problems and a few evident matte lines, which can be a side effect of high definition, there's very little wrong with the Ghostbusters transfer.

Good to hear. The reviews here seem to good at an average 4.0. I never owned the dvd but I see the blu-ray is on sale for $7.99 at Best Buy. I always enjoyed this film.
