Okay... speaking of title announcements, here's an official one hot off the wires: Sony Pictures Home Entertainment will indeed be releasing Ghostbusters on Blu-ray Disc on 6/16, in celebration of the film's 25th anniversary and timed to coincide with the release of Atari's Ghostbusters: The Video Game the same day. The Blu-ray (SLP $38.96) will include most (if not all) of the previous DVD extras, including audio commentary with Ivan Reitman, Harold Ramis and Joe Medjuck, 10 deleted scenes, storyboard comparisons and 3 featurettes (The Making of Ghostbusters, Interviews with Cast and Crew and SFX Team with before and after multi-angle explorations). New features for the Blu-ray include a Slimer Mode picture-in-picture viewing option (featuring an examination of the spook-hunters' firehouse headquarters, an in-depth exploration of the creatures in the Ghostbusters mythology, behind-the-scenes discussions of making the movie, new cast, crew and special effects artists interviews and much more), the Ecto-1: Resurrecting the Classic Car featurette, a Ghostbusters Garage: Ecto-1 Gallery and a 32-page scrapbook. The title will also include BD-Live connectivity, offering additional features (TBA). FYI, there's no official word yet on Ghostbusters 2, but we'll check on it.

2 - I really hope they include the commentary with the silhouettes from the original DVD release. That is still my all time favorite DVD bonus feature and the biggest reason I never got rid of that DVD and updated to the green slime 2 pack

Day one for me if i can get it then. The DVD i think was mince.

To much digital noise and grain not to mention the profound lack of detail.

Im more than confident Ghostbusters will be a revaluation on Blu-Ray and a great nostalgic experience.

As it was one of my fav films as a wee lad.

If the PQ sucks then who im i going to call?

Sony and i hope they have a good Scottish translator there for a swearing Scotsman

The game was delayed, so Sony delayed the BDs as well. If the game is delayed again (doubtful) the BDs will be too. I believe one of the insiders here said the BDs are ready to go, but they're waiting on the game.

fantastic news! Cant wait to cop this one. I dont really need part 2 anyways. It was great seeing it through the eyes of a child, but when I re-watched it last year, I barely made it all the way through.

The Blu-rays have been ready to ship for months now. Somewhere in Sony's warehouse are thousands of copies of this Blu-ray already pressed and packaged.

The list price sucks, but it's Sony so it'll be on sale at Fry's and Amazon in no time.

I'm glad I'm not being forced to buy 1 & 2 together.

Dammit, lower the price. I know most of us will never pay the 40 bucks but that's besides the point. Make it 30 bucks SLP so we can see a 15-19 dollar amazon or first week Best Buy price.

I looooooooooove this movie. One of my all time favorites!

However, if this isn't in a standard blu-ray case with a slipcover and an insert then I'm not buying it!

And there better not be any stickers that are difficult to remove or leave behind a sticky residue.

I don't care how good it looks!
