From what I recall, there was a few prototype models and a numerous production models produced beforehand.

But since they had the designers and workers, I believe more were produced in secret shipyards.

ST:TOS was finished front to back on 35MM film, that's why it is on Blu-ray. They remastered the FX because of all the optical buildup of grain and other noise, plus to correct many compositing errors and dodgy FX shots that might have been fine for late '60s TV but cringe inducing today.

It's TNG (like The X-Files) and the spinoffs that were shot 35MM then edited and composited on NTSC resolution digital videotape.
So the last question ST:TOS ,TNG and The X-Files was all shot on a 35MM film and edited on a tape ? Or was TNG and The X-Files edited on a different tape than say ST:TOS ?

Is this norm for 80's and 90's than say 60's and 70's ?

On Tattoine or Naboo? I'd love an extended duel, but those always seemed pretty complete.

In Episode 2 when dooku fights yoda there was a scene where dooku uses 2 lightsabers to fight yoda.
Yup. The toy was even released of Dooku with two lightsabers. It echos Anakin trying to use 2 against Dooku, but still outmatched, just as Dooku was outmatched by Yoda (the theatrical cut appears to be much more of a draw - yeah Dooku flees, but he isn't soundly beaten, either). Something about a super battle droid or two in those scenes, too.

Episode 2 also cut the fight between Obi-wan and Jango on Kamino. First Jango is using one blaster, which Obi-wan blocks easily, but then switches to two as Obi-wan closes, which puts alot more pressure on him. The theatrical has Obi-wan close that distance REALLY fast (skipping the single blaster attempts as Jango goes immediately to two blasters). Believe this is seen in one of the earlier trailers.

In Episode 3 there was a scene clipped out at the beginning when dooku fights anakin and obi-wan i read it in the novel and it was seen during the start menu of the video game it is a scene that happens right after they all ignite their sabers dooku says "DON'T THINK THAT BECAUSE THERE ARE TWO OF YOU THAT YOU HAVE THE ADVANTAGE."
Yeah, IIRC it was something about the Jedi duping Dooku into thinking they're clumsier and weaker than they actually were, but then switching up their fighting styles to their 'real' effective forms.

Quote:
Also there was a scene clipped out where yoda manages to disarm sidious i hope we get to see these also i wonder if there similar scenes for the OT??
Eh? Never heard about that one.

The Original Series was shot on film (which remains intact) and that's why it was converted to HD with relative ease compared the the difficulties that TXF and TNG would have because all their effects and edits are tape based. In the UK lots of stuff was destroyed or re-recorded over because tape can be reused, we've lost Dad's Army episodes Doctor Who etc because of this. Alot of UK series are of very poor tape quality (Steptoe and Son for example). Although some were transfered to film and went into private hands and then recovered. TV tapes were on reels like film but the tape used today or rather the 90's was higher than home use quality. Did you check out the amazon link?

I never thought I'd mention Dad's Army in a Star Wars thread.

Tatooine. Darth Maul leaps up onto the boarding ramp of the Queen's ship. Here the duel continued for a few moments, until Qui-Gon kicked Maul off and he lands in the sand. That's also why the bottom of his robes has more sand on it than you'd think as he watched the Royal Starship make it's getaway.

The front page has a bit more info from that recent Norwegian Interview regarding the Films.
It appears the Original Trilogy and Prequel Trilogy sets are now 4 discs. And the Complete Saga has a bonus disc.
Originally it appeared that all the Extras would be available only with the Complete Saga boxset.

Quote:
Star Wars

Star Wars: Original Trilogy and Star Wars: Prequel Trilogy will consist of four discs each. One for each movie and one bonus disc. Star Wars: The Complete Saga will have an additional special features disc, for a total of nine.

The remastering of the movies has been performed by Lucasfilm and will offer "the most recently updated versions of the movies," with "even more enhancements to the picture quality." When asked about Fox's answer to the fans that want to see the three original versions released, Marcais replied: "The versions that are being released are closest to George Lucas' vision. Other than that, no comment."

There is currently no date for a Blu-ray release of the six Star Wars movies separately.

Sales expectations are very high. For reference, the Avatar Blu-ray sold 5 million copies in the US and 4 million in the rest of the world. That's the "ceiling" on what sales to expect from a major Blu-ray release, and Star Wars is expected to raise that ceiling.

So, the PT and PT are going to have one Bonus disc as well.

The Complete Saga 3!

Very fair deal if you ask me!

But hey, George Lucas is soooo evil and milking it to the utmost!!!!

So basically, "piss off".

There seems to be a good number of people who won't be buying the Blu release until the theatricals are included, so I think Lucas would be smart to offer more than "no comment". I mean, "no current plans but who knows what the future will hold" or something would have been better than that.

In b4 "nobody cares if jerks who like the theatricals more refuse to buy star wars"

Considering the sales of the most recent DVD versions, I don't think they worry about sales from not pleasing a few overly vocal fans.

Especially those who complain over and over, yet still buy the release anyway. So yeah, I doubt it's a "Good Number".

Oh please not that argument again! I am so sick of it!

I really want to see what the latest enhancements are going to be, but maybe I'll try to let myself be surprised when I give them a spin for the first time.

I was actually rather encouraged by the no comment. No comment isn't generally the kind of thing people say when discussing a dead issue.

And at the very least, the circumspect language suggests Fox thinks this matters to more than a vocal handful of internet loudmouths.

'No comment' isn't a no then. If Fox is thinking Avatar numbers for the BD sales 70 quid times 9 million units is over 630 million. And GL still can't afford to restore the OT's?

I would wager a few credits on them coming out at some point.

Again, who said he couldn't afford to? That has never been the issue. Even though it would be expensive.

He simply doesn't feel those versions of the film are worth the time and money, as they don't represent his vision. That's all.

I think he mentioned it wasn't cost effective or too expensive. Maybe I'm just speculating on a rumour. If he doesn't feel they are worth the effort then he truly is lost to us....

Well he's not going to spend his money to satisfy a small subset of disgruntled fans... but it doesn't mean he can't afford it. It could probably break even or net a bit into the black, but doesn't mean that's incentive to do it for the sake of. His artistic ideas (love them or hate them) led him towards the continued revisions, which means he was obviously not satisfied with the original cuts.

Most people are going to buy whatever's released.
