2008 Consumer Electronics Show (Blu-Ray / HD-DVD future)

Well, here is some food for thought:
The DVD has lasted what? a little over 10 years and still going.
But they will eventually be phased out whether we want to admit that or not.

At the 2008 CES they are going to introduce a 4K LCD television...that, as the number states...has almost 4 times the resolution of todays standard 1080p tv's. These LCD'a are less then an inch thick!!
They must be seen to be believed...I was almost salivating.

So, who wants to watch a 1080p Blu-ray on there 4K TV!?
Yes, I know the vast majority of us will not run out and buy these TV's in 2008. But within five years from now...they HAVE to introduce a format that matches the 4K tv's resolution when it comes to DVD movies.
So the DVD lasted a little over 10 years.
The Blu-Ray / HD-DVD lasts maybe five years?

Think about it...4K tv's will destroy everything you know about tv's.
Blu-Ray's will look completely dated if you try to view them on a 4K tv.
I mean you can't upconvert a 1080p disc to a 4k image.
I highly doubt it. This news is exciting yet depressing at the same time.
