From the 2004 DVD

Quote:
Vader: What is thy bidding my master?

Emperor: There is a great disturbance in the force.

V: I have felt it.

E: We have a new enemy, the young rebel who destroyed the deathstar. I have no doubt this boy is the offspring of Anakin Skywalker.

V: How is that possible?

E: Search your feelings Lord Vader, you will know it to be true. He could destroy us.

V: He's just a boy. Obi-wan can no longer help him.

E: The force is strong with him. The son of Skywalker must not become a Jedi.

V: If he could be turned, he would become a powerfull ally.

E: Yes. He would be a great asset. Can it be done?

V: He will join us or die Master.

The new version of that scene was done to imply that Vader somehow learned of Luke's existence before the Emperor did, and was intentionally hiding it from him. It also helps play more into the ending of "Jedi", where both Vader and the Emperor are trying to use Luke to get rid of the other.

Yeah, I didn't even notice it for a long time. I suppose in the grand scope of things, its just a minor issue, but with Lucas & Co. spending at least 3 years making each film in the first place, its amazing they didn't catch it.

On a related note, are Anakin's lips still mismatched while talking to Padme on Mustafar, or was it fixed? There's a very brief moment of this on the DVD.

Ahh I see. I don't think we will ever see an end to that though. As each new generation comes along and re discovers the films, so will the debates continue.

To be fair, there aren't many films that can generate this much discusion. Whether thats a good thing or a bad thing is down to the individuals POV.

You will get a bunch of posts saying it should be the prequals first then the originals and vice versa.

It's really upto you. All I can say is that when I first discovered Star Wars it was before the prequels so I saw 4 5 and 6 first. And I'm glad I did, because I had no idea about the big reveal in Empire

But ever since I've owned all 6 I always watch 123456. So it's totally up to you There's no right or wrong way to watch them.

Most would say watch the originals first, the the prequels. In my opinion, numerical might works best for your first time through. Some would say it might spoil a big reveal for "Empire", but they fail to remember that while the audience may find out first, the characters don't, so its still effective.

If you haven't seen all of them, I would recommend 4,5,6,1,2,3,(and if you have plenty of time)4,5,6 again.

Make sure you buy an eye wash system before watching The Phantom Menace as it is the worst of the bunch. Get a pack of tums ready during AOTC and hire a scientist to erase your memory after watching ROTS.

After that, smooth sailing with Episodes IV, V, and VI.

But seriously, watch them in order... who really cares

I saw 4,5,6 in their original theatrical run way before 1,2,3, but now days, I always go 1,2,3,4,5,6.

Same here, well except I discovered them on VHS Before the '97 SE's so largely unchanged when I started watching them

There weren't any changes to the films before the '97 SE were there?

Thumbs up

yea there's a lot of things one can take for granted with the dialogue. The exchange between Vader and the Emperor, had me wondering if Vader had even at that stage, subtly tried to look out for Luke way back then. Mind you I haven't watched the Trilogy back to back in over a few years now.

Thats what you get for watching these movies in automatic pilot for so long haha.
