Yeah the lines suck, but the delivery is just awful. I shouldn't be surprised, though, since he's playing an older Jake Lloyd.
Honestly I think part of it is he's still a slave kid adjusting to being part of a much bigger universe than he was used to as a child and also adjusting to being a teenager and the Chosen One. I remember reading the Episode II novel and getting a much better feel for the characters from that than I did from the movie.

Oh by the way, the credit for worst actor/line delivery in the whole Star Wars saga comes not from Hayden Christensen... but from that one pilot in Empire who goes "Two fighters against a Star Destroyer?"

I literally LOL and rewind that scene every time because of just how badly he delivers it. It's funny how much suck can be wrung out of one simple little line.

WOW! I'm actually shocked that nobody has said that Hayden was deliberately acting poorly to create continuity with the Jake Lloyd version!

Get on it apologists, there's some free ammunition!

Oh, and he would need to scrap most of the CG and totally remove the Jar Jar character.
I think you can go one step further - I think if Lucas hadn't even kept the basic story arc of the PT but instead was completely uninvolved in any part of the process the entire thing would've been much better. Honestly, a full third of the arc involved watching Jake Lloyd and a Rasta Alien wander about and spew ridiculous shit. The remaining portion was watching Hayden furrow his brow and occupy space. Short of hiring someone like Bay or Boll to direct all of them, I can't think of how he could've made them any worse, really.

Regarding Palpatine - he is human, not some shapeshifting race. It's my understanding that 'Palpy' is his cover (including the physical appearance) and 'Sidious' is his true look - dark side powers... When he takes over control of the republic, he has no need for a disguise anymore and as a bonus, he can use his deformed look as proof of the Jedi plot of assasinating him and overtaking control, gaining sympathy and approval from the senate to destroy the Jedi.

Did you miss the numerous burned holes in the floor panels of the colony? The drops falling next to Biship eating through the floor of the Sulaco? Besides, Drake, Vasquez, Hicks and Hudson are wounded by splattered alien acid. Are you sure you are talking about Aliens?

The hand-clap 'To your ships' guy was pretty cringeworthy too.

But I can't see anything anywhere at any time in any way beating 'Boba Fett? Where???'.

That just sucked soooooooo hard on soooooooooo many levels...

edit: yes, Ackbar definitely has a place at this table

I dunno, I still give that award to Admiral Ackbar's "It's a Trap!"

It sounds like he's reading it from a que card, and not sure if he said it right.

I also think this one ranks up there too: "Come on, let's go and play ball. Keep racing, Ani, you're gonna be bug squash."
At least that one comes from a little kid, so he's got some kind of excuse.

That's an excellent way to look at it and much less jaded than my impression.

Wow, you're bashing the prequels again. How many thousands of variations of this post must we suffer through mods? We get it, you HATE them.

Hahaha, how is someone hating them any different then someone endlessly posting about loving them? It's my honest opinion.

Sorry I didn't they were very good, I'm not going to pretend I thought they were decent for your benefit. I'm not offended by you liking them, I couldn't care less.

I've posted in this thread, what, 70 some odd times in the last year and handful of months? You've posted what, well over 300? Get over yourself.

Worst line delivery... well, whenever Padme or Jar Jar calls Anakin by saying 'Ani', I can't help thinking to myself 'why the hell do they call him Annie?

It does rank right up there with: "Pardon me for asking, sir, but what good are snub fighters going to be against that?"

Come on Stinky, you should know by now that loving the prequels unconditionally makes you a "true fan" and makes your opinion weighty and valuable, while disliking them for valid reasons makes you a "hater" who just hates for the sake of hating. I thought that much would be clear by now.

Try and keep up.

But what the hell is the point in the first place? Why do that completely useless change and then ignore errors such as there already being blaster marks behind the stormtrooper on cloud city?

For this being the 'definitive' Star Wars collection its unforgivable!
