Is this possible? I've read stuff from last year saying that if my PS3 is set to 720p, that it will downscale to 480p.
My TV can accept 1080i signals, but Id rather leave it set to my TVs native resolution, that way the PS3's signal doesn't have to be changed by my TV. I have a Samsung LNT405, and I'm using my PS3 through HDMI. I have my PS3 set to 720p in the setting, having unchecked the 1080i box. Setting the PS3 to 1080i will be fine for Blu-Ray I assume, but for games that support 1080i my TV would have to downscale and deinterlace, making them look worse. To summarize, I want to leave my PS3 to 720p, so that my TV just displays the signal, and the PS3 takes care of the downscaling from 1080i/p on BD and sends out a 720p signal. |
