Ok, but Fox will in 2017 to ride coattails with Episode 8 and grab some Star Wars cash for one of their last times.

Jedi is still the best film imo. I also think more would agree IF the "I am your father" line was in rotj and the ewoks didn't fight

The first hour or so of Jedi is great, but once they get to the Ewoks, it turns into a dated kiddie movie.

Fox can't distribute jack squat without LucasFilm's permission. That's like Kinkos sending your manuscript to every mailbox in town without your permission. They have a distribution agreement with LucasFilm, they can't release anything without Lucas' say so.

The only thing that's really unclear is why you think these distribution rights are so crucial.

Can Disney directly distribute the OT? No, they have to go through Fox.

So what?

Lucasfilm had to go through Fox too and that didn't stop previous home releases.

Fox has every interest in continuing to work with the entities that actually owns the films. Distribution rights are worthless if there's nothing to, you know, distribute.

And I would be very surprised if any of Fox's previous arrangements with Lucasfilm allow them to just print copies of the OT ad infinitum. Lucas is a lot of things but a shitty businessman has never been one of them.

Whoever owns the OT has to go through Fox. That puts Fox in the car. It doesn't put them behind the wheel.

And for the 40th Anniversary they'll all decide to make some more Srar Wars money and go with the OT unaltered on blu ray.

Repeating myself For the tenth time. They (everyone involved) will find a way to make it happen.

Well, can't any film be better if you take out all the flaws?

Most would probably agree that the prequels were good if they got a better actor to play Anakin and the dialogue didn't suck.

Well my old 36inch tube Wega finally died and we got a 60in Sony LED. So this was the first time watching Star Wars in "real" HD.

I love this set even more now that I can enjoy it in 1080p.

Recently, I've been starting to get back into reading the Star Wars novels once again, and I realize this is a bit off topic but I couldn't find a proper topic or forum for this issue, and I was wondering what anyone thought about those Star Wars novels/books that Scholastic has published. Are they worth reading at all because I've never really considered Scholastic to be a valued source of Star Wars reading.

I just needed someone's honest opinion on this since I started reading Han Solo and the Lost Legacy and I have the entire library of Star Wars novels on my mobile device. Hopefully, someone can give me some impressions about the Scholastic series.

I don't know, they have published a lot of them, but most of them are for young adults, I guess. They include the main characters from the OT but I'm just wondering if they are worth checking out. I'm more of a serious reader than anything else. lols

Scholastic just doesn't have a great reputation to catering to the series sci-fi fan.

OI thought there might be some Star Wars fans in this topic who might have a suggestion or two ... right now, I'm kind of on the fence about it.

I used to read the Jedi Apprentice series and I think that's a pretty decent series if you want to read the early days of Obi-Wan Kenobi and Qui-Gon Jinn.

I missed out on Jedi Apprentice back in the day lol, but my friend had them and they looked pretty awesome. I have and read all of Jedi Quest and The Last of the Jedi. I'm pretty sure they're all written by the same author. Plotlines and characters made for the novels actually recur throughout those 3 book series though, but all in all I think they're really awesome.

I have a lot of Clone Wars novels, some which I've read and thought were awesome, and others which I just never had the time. I even have that entire Jacen Solo book series but never read them haha.

Oh and the Boba Fett book series is quite good for there not being too many books.

All in all lol, the Scholastic books by Jude Watson are pretty awesome. I'd definitely recommend them to a Star Wars fan who wants to fill in more of the gaps. The Clone Wars animated show may have rewritten the Clone Wars canon, but so far I don't think Jude Watson's books were contradicted yet lol.
