i have cut an incision in the wires between the component cables and then pulled them apart. If you slice in the right area and pull carefully the wires will separate and give you more room to make all the connections. The trick is doing it carefully enough where yuo don't expose any wire.

Wires that have those cores or some type of extra coupling towards the end so this doesnt' happen accidently are pretty much impossible to do.

You could also use couplers and small length audio cables (red/white) that you could couple to the componant cables to extend them for the audio connection

They also sell composite/rca cables that have 1 end male and one end female,,,so you can just plug them into the audio cables on the componant cbale to extend their length.

I have also found the couplers and the male/female rca cables in walmart for fairly cheap as well.
