You may be able to find a Denon AVR-2309CI under 800, the only thing it would need otherwise is a switch for all the composite video inputs(6 really?).

Marant SR7001 - Recertified Closeout $499.99
That Marantz looks very sexy, especially for the price. But like the Yamaha, how would I get around the audio and the video being noticeably separated on the back of the receiver? Oh, and I added my budget after the fact. I'm looking for less than $800 preferably.

Instead of using the component cables with 5 plugs, use ones with three and another with two or an optical cable, Same with the composite, use a single cable for the video and a stereo cable for the sound. That should make the wire management a little easier.

What you didn't want to send $7500 on a preamp that weighs nearly sixty pounds and still have to buy an external amplifier

That sounds like a plan, and would definitely work for a couple of my components, but what about game systems?
