you mean the stacking part? Well I did mean that literally, but to be honest I had not really investigated whether or not that is actually a good idea. Judging from your response I am guessing it is NOT a good idea to stack Sub Woofers? I thought I had seen some installations where this had been done. If that is not recommended then I guess I would need to rethink things.

Very nice set-up. I see you took your time and did things right the first time. Nice equipment and you have the mother of the beast for a sub, the A3-300, that's very nice indeed.
I do have one question. You have the same issue I have in that you used the 1/2 of your basement as your HT "area" and the other 1/2 for your pool table. My other 1/2 is for my kids toys and such, and I was wondering what you thought about the quality of the sound you get since you have the additional room/space behind you. I felt I needed 2 subs (much smaller and lesser performing subs than yours, but also a smaller room) to at least have the bass fill my HT "area." Do you think your speakers are performing and sound the way they should or do you think they are lacking something with no wall behind your couch. I have always wondered if I am really missing something without a wall behind me and haven't seen another set-up similiar to mine in this way until i saw yours. What's your 2 cents? To be honest I think it sounds amazing. I still get plenty of chest thumping bass from my sub and the couch and ottoman in the middle of my HT also shake when ever there is some good low bass. It also helps that my fronts have 4 10" drivers and I am getting a lot of good mid-bass from those. That might be where my situation varies from others. |

So last week I played with subwoofer placement a bit. I am somewhat limited in my choices since my wall unit really takes up most of the space on that wall. In any case I ended up pulling the sub out from the corner a bit and angling it so it face the chase portion of my couch. This added a slightly higher output and cleaner bass (in the MAIN seating position on the couch). I also noticed I get a little more couch rumble from this position which maybe is what is giving me the feeling of higher output. Overall when an explosion hits I feel it more now and I even get slightly less rattle from my Recessed light cans and air vents in the ceiling. Although my windows still vibrate on really low rumbling bass scenes.
I will take updated pictures when I get a chance. |
