Both are too new for pirates to be concerned with, at least financially speaking. Single burners are still too $teep and slow and I can just imagine how much a multiple blu-ray replicator would cost!
Eventually both formats will see more piracy/copy issues as more hackers get involved with reducing hardware costs.

But I'd say blu-ray will eventually be the easier to copy. Because burners are coming down in price while hddvd burners are rare. Also bdr media is getting slightly cheaper.

The only effect piracy will have on the outcome of the format war is studios (like FOX) have gone with BD because of BD+ and region encoding.

Personally i don't care for pirated material. What i do want for myself is to copy my legit purchased movies to hard drive on my pc and play what i want from there instead of having to put a disk in.

My whole dvd collection is on my media center pc.

I hope and wish to do the same with BD.

SIGH
