That's a miracle unto itself given the issues with those early Samsung players. I have a 1200, which luckily I got for free, but after a while I just couldn't take the issues with it anymore.

But it's awesome that the discs are playing fine for you.

That bucket of bolts have always sounded very harsh to me, I think it's meant to be that way, I love it. It's an old piece of junk anyway, it's both the years and the mileage honey.

The new versions of the OT can not in fact go any higher resolution than 2K without also rerendering and scanning the original negative again which could be a problem because of all the changes. The only thing we could get is the original versions of the OT rescanned and transfered without any of the changes. That is if Lucas didn't destroy them somehow. So basically this is it folks, the best you are ever gonna see these movies.
In a nutshell not buying that at all. For starters when Lucas released the dvd's in 2004 he redid a bunch of the effects work form the 1997 SE. He could just as easily have redone the effects work for the new bluray. After all he redid many of the effects from the 97 SE. The 97 SE's can easily be scanned at 4K and due to the fact telecine scanning has improved considerably the original trilogy would look far superior. Some of the 2K CGI could even be upscaled to 4K. That exact thing was done in Spiderman 3. The much of the CGI sticks out horribly and looks far worse than some of the old school effects when these masters were done.
To my eyes none the of original trilogy pictures can match the prequel trilogy. TPM has more actual detail in the frame even with a bit of DNR than episodes 4-6. Truth be told Lowry applied a good coat of DNR on the original trilogy as well and DNR was used far more liberally back in 2004 or basically during Bush's first term as president to let you know how old these masters actually are.

Except that it's not an insult, since the original Jabba was indeed a human. I just think its funny they left it in, even after digitally changing Jabba to a non-human.

LOL...You know, the only place I noticed the so called green tint is in the scene where the hobbits are leaving the shire and ironically they are surrounded by green. So I guess that might explain the green tint. Either way it didn't bother me or take away from the experience of seeing LotR on Blu-ray.

BTW- watched RotS Saturday morning and it looked incredible. To bad Lucas didn't go back and change Anakin from acting like a little b!@#$ in some parts.

I think Revenge of the Sith is the best in the series. I watched it last night and it is simply phenomenal. Order 66 is perhaps the best scene in the entire series to me and it's heartbreaking every time I see it. I really, really love the exchange between Anakin and Obi-wan on Mustafar.

Obi-Wan: You were the chosen one! It was said that you would destroy the Sith, not join them. You were to bring balance to the force, not leave it in darkness.
Anakin Skywalker: [shouts] I hate you.
Obi-Wan: You were my brother, Anakin. I loved you.

I got real emotional watching that scene. It brought a tear to my eye.

will episode 4 5 6 here on bluray include the added scenes from the 2004 version that was released on the movie theatres or will it have the original versions only. I'm planning to purchase the complete box set but need to know if the 2004 version with the added scenes be included. These are the versions I want. Thanks

I've watched 1-5 so far, and I'm pretty happy with the picture quality.

The audio on 1 & 2 is spectacular, 3 was a little disappointing after the first two, 4 was surprisingly good, except for the fact that dialog would still go from very clear to very muffled quite a bit, and 5 was pretty good all the way through.

I find it kind of odd that the newest movie has the most disappointing audio. It's not bad, it's just not anywhere near as good as 1 & 2.

Also, I have not had any audio problems so far.

I"m watching the Saga now, and I'm doing it in chronological order, on Episode 3 currently half an hour in, and they are the best sound and picture quality I've ever seen on a blu ray.

I don't have a surround sound system, just a Samsung LCD and the first two movies rumbled my whole house just like I had surround sound. It's amazing the job they did on them

I will only receive my set tomorrow, but most of the reviews I read gave Sith 5/5 for both PQ & AQ. Latest is from HDD.

You're reading too much into it.

It's a playful insult. Always has been. Since Jabba isn't a Human. Hence no reason to change it.

Well, Lucas said in the '97 SE docs that Jabba was never intended to be human; the actor was simply a stand-in for whatever creature they eventually came up with. He also said one of his original ideas for Jabba was similar to Chewbacca. It wasn't until "Jedi" came out that he became a slug, and then the scene from "New Hope" was changed, to include that design.
