I don't think he is my favorite comic book character, but Deadpool is definitey one of my favorite comics to read. I like Ryan Reynolds, the script is supposedly very good, everything is telling of a really good movie.

Liefeld being excited about a Deadpool movie is not a bad thing. It doesn't matter, and he is likely a fan of the character just as much as any of us and wants exactly what we all do.

Deadpool = epic

I just hope it turns into more appearances on TV shows, games exc. because right now I just have marvel ultimate alliance (and that’s still amazing )

i've said all along, keep the budget around $50 million, make it dark and gritty looking, stick to the script that is supposed to be awesome, and if it doesn't do as well (i can't see that happening if it's as awesome as they say) then they aren't out to much.

it was a joke dude. Liefield is widely regarded as the biggest doofus in the comic industry, so to me having him endorse a movie is about as encouraging as having Uwe Bolls stamp of approval. obviously hes gonna be excited about a movie being made of a character he created. who wouldnt.

The Geek Files report that Deadpool will indeed go into production at some point this year. While director Tim Miller has been attached to the project since last April, there's been little news in regards to the official status of the spin-off - we were repeatedly assured that it was still happening, just not when exactly. Of course, it was only last week that artist Rob Liefeld revealed that he'd seen eight minutes of test footage for the R-Rated flick.

In other news, the site goes on to reveal that Green Lantern star Ryan Reynolds is still attached to play the 'Merc With A Mouth.' Their sources at 20th Century Fox have also confirmed that The Wolverine will go into production this year. "

'Deadpool' Will Go Before Cameras This Year; Reynolds Still Attached to Star

X-MEN spin-off Deadpool is likely to go into production in 2012 with Ryan Reynolds still attached to star in the project, The Geek Files has learned.

In what is exciting news for X-Men fans, those involved with the 20th Century Fox project are hopeful that Deadpool will film this year. In addition, we've heard that Hugh Jackman's second solo mutant adventure, The Wolverine, will definitely go into production in 2012.

Fan favourite Deadpool, the name used by smart-mouth mercenary Wade Wilson, was introduced in X-Men Origins: Wolverine with Reynolds in the role but the new film will reboot the concept so it's far closer to the comics. There has been talk that the script even sees Deadpool poking fun at his initial big-screen appearance, which will be portrayed as a work of fiction that isn't part of the film's own reality.

Although there's been no official news about Deadpool since Tim Miller joined as director last April, I have been hearing it's on the front burner and still viable, with Reynolds still attached to star. Reynolds has been actively involved in the script for what he regards as a personal passion project.

The actor has been filming another comic book adaptation, R.I.P.D, about an afterlife police department for dead cops, and then has a voice role in DreamWorks animated feature Turbo about a garden snail whose dreams come true after a freak accident.

Fox is also developing a sequel to X-Men: First Class as well as rebooting its Daredevil and Fantastic Four franchises. It recently emerged that Chronicle director Josh Trank is in line to helm the next Fantastic Four film.

Deadpool creator Rob Liefeld recently hinted, during an appearance at Amazing Arizona Comic Con, that he had viewed test footage for the Deadpool movie that showed the character in full costume with his trademark katana swords and guns in what appeared to be an R-rated film.

DEADPOOL: We've turned in an amazing script and done some early tests and visual development that--I'm confident--would get the fans stoked. And Ryan still loves the project. So it's really up to Fox as to whether or not the film happens--all I can do is hope (and beg periodically) that it be allowed to move ahead."

I feel like Fox will pass we won't be seeing many R-rated Superhero flicks unless Kick-Ass 2 captures lightning, rainbows and happiness in a bottle.
