Oh shit, I just realized something. In a couple of years when 4K is the norm, I will again be buying my favorite films all over again. Not only that but a 4K tv and player.
Oh well. That's how it goes with this hobby. |

No, you won't. The only films that will be worth buying in 4K are 35mm films that have recently been remastered. Then if they need a restoration as well that will cost the studio additional money. I am honestly waiting until we get to 8K so that I can enjoy 65/70mm films properly.

Sure, for resolution, but then again it's all about seating distance. This is why when I do get into the 4K/8K arena down the road I plan to get a projector as I already have a 96" screen that I occasionally use with my BenQ MP512ST projector. With that size screen 4K would be fully resolvable at about 7 feet.

I wasn't talking about playing Dvds on a Dvd upconverter player and hdtv on that post to Retroj23. I was talking about playing current 1080P BD movies in a future 4K BD Player and Ultra HDTV. Which i know would work because its just like how anyone can play, their old dvds on a BD player and it will play in 1080P depending on if you have a 1080P hdtv though.

With reasonably decent gear and good blu-ray transfers, you aint getting much better video/audio quality for home. Just isnt happening. Maybe someone with a 50 foot screen that they sit 3 feet away from might benefit. For me, blu-ray is the pinnacle of home video and Im not buying gear and movies yet again. Im done. They can try to pimp it any way they like. The phrase "diminishing returns" comes into play here. 4K = YAWN ![]() |

Well, anything is possible. Just don't get your hopes up lest they be dashed.

Yes that is what i figured would be the case becuse of the fact that, Dvds can play in a BD player in 1080P with a 1080P hdtv. So its same thing with playing BDs in a future 4K BD player and future 4K ultra hdtv in 2160P(4K).
