I think a lot of people feel this way, as good as Blu-ray is it's still hasn't been fully embraced, and to add yet another format namely 4K I think that it will never get out of the hardcore niche market.

I agree, I have seen it myself and it is very noticeable if I go 4k it would most likely be a projector. Everyone is so focused on resolution, but the big thing about 4k that a lot of people miss is the increased colour space this will be immediately noticeable even on a smaller screen, say good bye to banding, the other added benefit is B&W movie will also look better.
