Biggest Parenting Mistakes

Kissing Curiosity

Laura says her 6-year-old son came home from school singing the song, "I Kissed a Girl." What started out as a few smooches on the playground has escalated. A teacher informed Laurie and her husband that their son and some classmates gathered in a circle, pulled their pants down and exposed their privates to each other. Her son cried when they asked him about it. Later, he was caught kissing more girls. She wants to know if this is normal behavior.

Pediatrician Dr. Jim Sears says it's nothing to worry about. "At 6 years old, when it's with kids the same age, not an older child or a younger child, generally, we just consider it curiosity," he says. "In your mind, it's the same as if he was picking all the other kids' noses: inappropriate. He's violating boundaries."

Dr. Phil agrees. "I think this is exploratory behavior. The big mistake parents make here is to either overreact or under react to this." He says the child needs to be taught where boundaries are, that it's inappropriate and rude behavior. "You don't want to shame a child about this … And if they have curiosity, then satisfy the curiosity at home with discussions, with books, whatever."

- Don't label the child

- Do teach personal boundaries

so no one here had a crush on a girl at that age?and the ending bein predictable? ummm yea thats why its called a remake you were supposed to see the same ending comming
I suppose that would depend on what one considers short-lived for that age.

Crushes definition (bing.com #4):

short-lived love: a temporary romantic attraction, especially in teenagers and young people ( informal ).

Your article really has little to do with the discussion. That's an extreme case, and it's not even about a young boy actually falling in love.

Well some people need reasons to dislike the movie, that particular part is one of the easy one to pick "oh my God! A 12 years old boy as a cruch on a young young, that movie is so horrible!"

I believe I already addressed the complaints about the kids being "too cruel" for their age. Let me tell you something. Go to any middle school in any country. I promise you will see some things that will make your hair shrivel and die.

The "Mastered in 4K" release has a problem:

Not sure if this problem persist later in the movie too. Tested on a different blu ray and is the same. The only work around is to turn on english subtitles. I own the original non remasterd version and this problem doesn't exist email already sent to sony support already.

Update: No english subtile translation for chinese spoken language through entire movie.
Hang on to the 2010 version!

Not sure why you decided to wage war on these titles. If you could channel that energy into helping out the poor or bringing food to the needy I think you could change the world.

I haven't seen anyone go every minute of every day over something like this since the format war. Make sure you take time to eat & sleep.

Weird that highdefdigest didn't mention the problem in their review. That was the first review I could find of that title. You would think they would mention something that important in their review.

That review sucks b/c it perpetuates the myth that Michelle Yeoh has a cameo in the movie. She doesn't.

Reviewers have been known to cherrypick and completely miss out on mistakes. See: Star Trek TNG Season 1 audio problems.

Ok so the review for the 4k version is up on this site.

Still no mention of leaving the subtitles out on the Chinese spoken parts in the movie.

So did they leave the subtitles out or not?

I was thinking about buying this one since it is so cheap but I want verification on the subtitles first.

Okay now I'm really confused.

According to a poster on this site they stated there was no subtitles on the Chinese speaking parts on "The Karate Kid" mastered in 4k.

But according to this reviewer he states there is:

So is there subtitles or not? I've held off from buying this title because of what the person said in this thread.

English subtitle is on the disc if you turn it on but when you encounter the non-english speakers dialogue.....it doesn't come on automatically as it's suppose to. Unlike the original first non 4K blu ray release, it works properly without needing to turn on english subtitle.
