Don't let the haters bring you down, it's OK to be passionate about something. Good luck.

Haters are delusional and miserable nowadays.

Thank you so much for your very kind words, I will go on with this.

It's great to be passionate, but like...nothing is going to happen here. Most people hate this movie and Fox acts like it never existed. Focus on change you actually can make, that has a high probability of success.

If you have any suggestion about something to "fix", tell me.

I get where you're coming from--the movie's a mess and an eye-sore at times, and the fixes you suggest could actually be desirable.

The thing is, the movie was ruined by studio interference. A few CGI fixes might make it look more presentable, but the story is still a mess. I would get behind it if Gavin Hood expressed an interest in making a definitive director's cut that restores the vision he had for it. I have no idea if there's enough footage on the cutting floor to fix the story problems, or if more scenes would need to be reshot. It'd be an expensive endeavor, with or without SFX, and I don't think there's enough interest among fans to incentivize studios (or even the director) to fix anything.

Our best hope would probably be a fan edit. It would not surprise me if a home computer could produce better effects than what we saw in the bathroom scene, but the movie does have other complexities that might make it a challenge for a common fan (the de-aging effects might not be possible). Also, no promise that any new footage could be added, it'd just be a matter of recutting existing sequences, but that probably won't make it a better story.

I wouldn't discourage you from going forward with a petition. Given that some odd movies had alternate cuts produced (like Highlander II), maybe this one has a shot in so-many years time.

I might have to give specific details more thought. I know I described the movie as messy, but pinpointing specific issues can be a complicated task and a lot of it is script-related imo.

Few things off the top of my head:
  • One thing that might need to be addressed is how Weapon X is characterized--fans really hated having his mouth sewn shut during the end fight, but maybe there could be a way to change it so that he's allowed to speak again and shoots a bunch of wisecracks at Wolverine. This would be a very complicated fix, of course.
  • You know how Wolverine is fighting Gambit in the alley, then fights Sabertooth, then minutes later Gambit is running on a rooftop inexplicably? Yeah, I'd love it if that was changed somehow--the sequence of events never made sense to me.
  • Gambit has another ex-machina at the end, where he comes out of nowhere and saves Wolverine from being crushed by a wall. It always annoyed me, because it was never set-up. All I'd ask for here is at least one or two extra shots to establish that Gambit is actually moving towards Wolverine's direction beforehand (maybe a shot of him landing the helicopter?). As it is, the scene just comes out of nowhere and strikes me as dumb.

Some people get comfort in the process not just the result. So what if nothing is likely to happen...it's a petition about a movie. At the very least OP will connect with like minded individuals.

As for me...never seen it.

Thank you so much for your kind words.
HIGHLANDER 2 fastly comes to mind. Indeed.

I know that there are these deleted scenes:

1- Little Ororo Munroe in Africa.
2- Alternative way to erase Wolverine's memory (I like the adamantium bullet anyway).
3- Deadpool resurrecting (supposed to be post-credits).

Is this going to continue until every comic book stinker is gonna receive an alternate cut?

1- Who cares. The timeline has been altered, so that never happened. We can easily pretend that there's a faithful version of Deadpool in the Post-DOFP timeline (The Deadpool movies are an alternate continuity).

2- Gambit is very agile, and filled with kinetic energy.

3- As above, cinematic Gambit is filled with kinetic energy and thus he's super-agile and maybe super-fast.

"Ant-Man & The Wasp" or "Thor: Ragnarok" should receive the treatment as well.

The problem with your proposal is that you are suggesting superficial fixes to a movie that has serious script and casting flaws. Those need to be fixed first.

I think the movie is fun and entertaining the way it is. Is it the weakest of the franchise? Yes, it is. But it's not bad.
It's more comic-bookish than the rest of the franchise.
Could it have been better? Yes, but it's not an awful movie either.
It's a fun, superhero movie.

Then, why not show it?

It's not that Gambit is poorly characterized, it's that the film's editing fails to support the scene/sequel (or cause/effect) format, which is why it comes off as choppy and odd. Reordering, adding, or removing footage is the easiest way to fix these issues.

I know where you're coming from, but we don't know if there's more Gambit footage on the cutting floor.
