Default Lucy Gordon (reporter from Spider-Man 3) found dead

British actress Lucy Gordon found dead in Paris
May 21, 2009, 6:45 AM EST

PARIS (AP) -- French police say British actress Lucy Gordon, who appeared in "Spider-Man 3," was found dead in her Paris apartment after apparently committing suicide.

An official with the Paris police headquarters says an autopsy has been ordered to determine the cause of death. The official said Thursday it appeared to be a suicide, but gave no details.

The official spoke on condition of anonymity because of police agency policy.

Gordon, 28, appeared in a dozen films, including as reporter Jennifer Dugan in "Spider-Man 3." She portrays British singer and actress Jane Birkin in the upcoming biopic "Serge Gainsbourg (a heroic life)" by Joann Sfar.

Oh come on what does that really have to do with anything? Suicide is a personal issue and movies is business. Heaths death was a bit different anyway but using that logic ... how many terrible movies was Heath in?

If a handful of pills is accidental then I would like to know what isn't.

Wait, did it actually say she hanged herself? Anyone that kills themself is obviously pretty troubled, but hanging always seems like the creepy way to go, because of how someone will end up finding you.

The brother of a girl I knew in high school hanged himself from a tree in a public park near the school. So now that tree just has an eerie feeling to it.

I guess the combination of it being quick/painless and clean are why some people do it instead of drinking bleach or shooting themselves.

Anyway, a horrible story whether you care for her or not.

Depending on the way and the height it's done, it can be very painfull and slow. The quick way was with the trap underneat because your neck would broke off instantly..

Anyway...

So if my medication killed me which I got prescribed from a doctor, your saying that is suicide. Despite having in the quantities, the way etc that I was instructed to do so?

Haha.

I was watching In Cold Blood and Robin Hood: Men In Tights recently, which both feature hanging, so I read up on it, because I always thought it was a pretty weird form of capital punishment.

Whoops... did I ruin the endings of either movie?

If done right (which apparently isn't the easiest thing to do, which is why being a hangman became a legitimate job) it's quick and painless, but if done wrong you'll either suffocate yourself to death (which I imagine is no fun at all) or decapitate yourself (which defeats the purpose of possibly hanging yourself since it's a clean way to die, or something... who knows).

Anyway, enough with the morbid talk. JK was right. She was hot... what a waste.

Edit: After reading more about it in the news... considering her biggest role is apparently "reporter from Spider-Man 3" it surprises me that she had a $3500/month apartment in Paris.

He didn't take the medication the way he was instructed. No doctor would prescribe all of these drugs at the same time, and instruct him to take them all together.

Quote:
According to the New York Medical Examiner's Office, which issued a cause of death statement, Ledger died of "acute intoxication" by the combined effect of six medications. "We have concluded that the manner of death is accident, resulting from the abuse of prescription medications," the statement reads. Ledger was found dead Jan. 22 in his Manhattan apartment.
Accidental Overdose: The Deadly Mix

Specifically, the deadly drug cocktail included:

* Oxycodone, also known under brand name OxyContin, a potent painkiller
* Hydrocodone, an ingredient in Vicodin, other painkillers, and some cough suppressants
* Diazepam or Valium, an antianxiety drug sometimes prescribed as a muscle relaxant
* Alprazolam or Xanax, prescribed for anxiety and panic attacks
* Temazepam or Restoril, prescribed for insomnia
* Doxylamine, an antihistamine over-the-counter sleep aid sold in the U.S. as Unisom

It wasn't technically suicide, but Ledger took his own life by his own actions.

There are many of those people, however, who cannot help how they are feeling do to hormone levels. They have hormone imbalances and can no longer control their feelings through excitation and depression and, when people finally start to notice it in the long term, it is often too late. So that statement does not apply to everyone.

I gotta disagree. My cousin was in a horrific accident (legs and waist essentially got twisted around and around and around) and after months of trying to cope, he eventually shot himself to end his misery.

Selfish? Absolutely (though one might think he did it to end his parents' pain too, I don't know). Not sure how that is "ignorant" or "tasteless", though.

I see, I didn't know that much about it. It seems that whilst it wasn't suicide he had several problems beyond what I was aware of (i'm not judging him, I know what its like having such problems [though I personally use mediacation as an absolute last resort]).

I personally have had problems with insomnia in the past and it can literally drive a person mad trying to get sleep and not be able to. You would be surprised at the thoughts that go through your mind when your sleep deprived. Not to mention the other psychological effects it can and often does have on you.
