Default Coraline Blu-ray question

I was watching Coraline the other day (keep in mind that I have never seen a stop-motion film before) and I noticed that in a lot of animations (the character movements) it went really slow or in better words lagged. Is this due to stop-motion filming or what?

Thanks

LOL, yah i just realized that . I just found it weird and annoying that the character movements and other things would lag in the middle of a scene. Thought it was something wrong with my blu-ray. I did not know this was a stop-motion film beforehand, and I have never seen a stop-motion film before. Thats right I have never seen Nightmare Before Christmas. When I first was watching Coraline the lagging bugged me so much that I nearly turned it off.

I have watched some scenes in Coraline again (the ones which I experienced the most lagging), and I can bearly notice it anymore. I guess it takes some time to get us to. Good movie overall, really innovative

personally, it doesn't bother me. in fact, i think it looks more realisitc than regular animation, as real objects don't continuously move in one swift motion in the real world.

but i can see others not liking it. to each their own.

I never noticed any "lag" in Coraline, but I do like the stop-motion technique, it really adds a unique visual style to the movie. If you liked it, be sure to add Corpse Bride to your list, a much better movie and better than Coraline graphically as well IMHO...

I find it strange that instead of stopping it seems like it slows down and lags, and its called stop-motion.

I don't understand what you mean.
The motion isn't smooth like it is in a computer animated cartoon. If it's freezing or something that sounds like a problem with your player.

What I mean for example is in one part the character moves it head, it stops moves a little bit more stops and keeps on going like that instead of one smooth motion of moving his head.

In spite of Coraline being stop-motion technology (moving still objects frame-by-frame), Coraline is very fluid. It is not "jerky" or has any "lag".
Check out the various videos of Coraline here (particularly the first clip):
http://coraline--trailer.blogspot.com/

If that looks better to you, something is wrong with your BD or player.

I think you should check out Nightmare Before Christmas. Then you would really notice a stop motion flick.

Yeah, that looks better to me. I think it is something wrong with my blu-ray then because my PS3 has the latest update and I haven't had any problems with it before.

Thanks for the help

I watched it last weekend and saw what you described. I thought I had a setting wrong or something.
