Switching to format neutral... - Blu-ray Forum

as much as I have been a blu supporter, this move by paramount/dreamworks really is huge..even if blu does eventually win the war (which I think it will, once they start realizing its capabilities fully), it won't be for a long time. I can not wait around any longer hoping some movies will go blu. Sure, V for Vendetta is, but a lot of great movies I really want won't for a LONG time. I need the Bourne movies, and a lot of others, especially if Over the Hedge and other Dreamworks movies go to HD. Format neutral is the way to go, as there won't be a winner for a few years at the very least. Time to start buying an Hd player and some HDDVDs (no longer HD Duds)

There still aren't enough exclusive titles I'm interested in.

I wouldn't care that much except for 3 things...
1) I HATE Miscro$oft with a passion. Ergo, I hate the format they support.

2) I can not afford another player to hook into my system.

3) I have no ROOM for another player within my system. I only have 2 HDMI inputs on my AV receiver and that is being used by cable and my PS3. Unless I could find an inexpensive HDMI switch, I am not going to re-arrange everything just to add another player.

Oh, and 4.... Toshiba sucks... really bad quality IMO.

I agree, plus the fact Hellboy 2 and the Hulk in 2008 are Universal.

I can't beleive I'm going to say this. But I have decided to go neutral, times have changed in a big way pertaining to this stupid format war. I was so set on getting Transformers and Shrek 3 on Blu...and now it can't happen unless I get a HD DVD player. So I will be purchasing a A2 this weekend. I hate this HD war

Exactly my thought even with Tranformers HD DVD that is about the only movie I would buy on HD DVD. I will get Transformers on DVD, hey DVD has done me well for ten years it will continue to do well for me for another 3-4 yrs.

I just bought a PS3 primarly for the Blu Ray player I have only bought 300 and my next BD purchase was going to be Transformers, now I guess it will be something else. Paramount being HD DVD exclusive is not nearly enough to make me go HD DVD. The only thing that will make me buy a HD DVD player is if HD DVD wins out right. I still think that HD DVD will die, the faster the better.

This applies if even I have HD DVD player in future or now.
My support is 100% blu-ray so long as Walt Disney and Sony in BDA

majority of my favorite movies come out on Fox, Sony and Disney....

Hate to say this but Im there with ya. But Im gonna wait till the end of the year to see if BDA is going to make a comeback before I break down and buy a Toshiba. If not, oh well, format neutral here I go.
