this is very cool....but we still won't get uncompressed audio, but at least
when they show Star Wars/or something else not on blu yet on HBOHD we might get to see it in 1080p

Just cancelled Directv because their HD-DVR sucked and went with Dish. Oh well... 1080p is ultimately why I got blu-ray anyway...

Dish has no HD selection next to Directv and no access to Sunday Ticket....therefore is inferior IMO

Not to mention that i'm sure Directv will be the first to broadcast sports
in glorious 1080p........

when 1080p football games are being broadcast.......life will be good

Ahhhh shit! I think its time to switch from Dish Network to Direct TV due to the following reasons:

1. 1080p tv!
2. NFL Sunday Ticket
3. Better selection from Movies-On-Demand or PPV
4. Hopefully better deals than Time Warner or any other company.

I love DirecTV. Always have. The only reason I had them to begin with was cause of the NFL Sunday Ticket. Glad to hear all of this.

A question for those of you who currently have Direct TV, does this service carry the NFL Network as well?

will you need a new reciever to get 1080p movies? because there are those lights on the reciever and they don't have a 1080p light.

Hmm. I too wonder if 1080p is beyond the ability of a software upgrade.

I have Direct tv and love it but I am not happy about recently having to pay extra $5 bucks a month for a few extra HD channels, like UHD, MGD,HDNET movies. I wonder if the newly added channels will be part of the original $9.99HD access fee or another $5 or so add on like they did. Hope Directv charging additional $$ money for new channels isnt becoming a new trend
