Cool Halo and Halo 3.

I have a couple of questions about Halo in general and Halo 3

Can someone explain to me why people care so much about the Halo series. I found the first one to be a mediocre game thats been done a hunded times better on the PC. The second seemed so focused on MP that they made a lackluster sp game.

I love the Unreal Tournament series. Halo seems to be more popular than the UT series. Can someone please explain why? for the life of me I cant see why this is more popular when UT series (to me) seems to far ahead of anything bungie could do.

I also saw the video for Halo 3. I thought it was Halo 2. Video didnt look impressive at all. Warhawk looks more impressive and that looks real simple.

Why are people losing their mind over the x button funtionality. WTH is that about. So.....you can map a button to a specific weapon.. revolutionary and mind blowing.
That shield grenade they came up with looks and plays like a combination of the shiled gun in UT and the shield grenade in Resistance (you need to beat game first)
Im still waiting for bungie to announce the translocator for Halo 3 and for the fanboys to believe that Bungie actually came up with this idea!

I love Halo for it's multi player. It's just awesome. I have two HDTV's in my living room with two xboxes. My friends come over and we do system link. It's a blast.

Mainly because it was the flagship FPS for consoles. It's the game that brought FPS into the mainstream. I'm in the same boat as you though, having grown up on PC gaming and the like, I guess I was spoiled. This game is special for no other reason IMO. UT, as you said, does everything so much better.

Default Halo.....

was revolutionary on how flawless it ran. It was a unique game and gave us something different. There are too many Halo fans to just say this game sucks and has nothing to offer the average gamer. I think that if it is not your cup of tea, fine....but why put it down? Gaming is supposed to be fun and I see way too many people trying to look at the negatives instead of the positives. A game will tell you how truly good it is by sale numbers. They don't lie, and last I checked Halo sold a lot of copies. Unreal Tourney should be good as well though. I am very much looking foward to playing that game.

Yes but goldeneye did not make it mainstream, which I think was his point.

You're probably right because I've never been a PC gamer. I love the weapons on Halo though (energy sword), and I like how you don't have health, but a recharging shield. And Master chief is just cool. Golden eye may have been first, but Halo ushered in the dual thumbsticks FPS era to consoles.

Im really at a loss for words. No offence to MS halo fans, but to me, it seemed that there wasnt any other good games for the xbox, and Halo became popular by proxy.

Halo was a launch title, so you are right in the way that there was not much competing with it at first, but it still sold strong even after more titles came out.

This is what Im trying to figure out. Why are the sales numbers so high. Im under the impression that Halo is an impulse purchase that all MS fans must own or be left out in the dark of whats supposed to be cool. I love FPS's. They are my first choice

And Yes.... im a pc gamer first followed by consoles.

I can enjoy any game as long as it is fun to play. I really do not care about what console it is on. I will not buy a PS3 because of the lack of truely great games. I see many great games on the PC and Xbox 360, so that is why I play these systems.

While not the best source in the world, I do give it some merit and stand corrected. Halo is still a hell of a game regardless!

I read some where the online multi player has hosted over....I forget how many billion matches......people love the team work and great weapon/game play design. slayer is kinda gay IMO, btb skirmish is much better with specific goals not just see someone and kill them. Sometimes you have to sacrafice yourself for the greater good of the mission/team. Halo is the shizznet. I like blu-ray for movies, but xbox 360 for games.

The shield grenade in R:FOM is nice.

I don't understand why Halo is big either. I played Halo 2 for not that long. It was the typical shooter to me and I don't understand why it's such a big deal. If anyone here has played Counter Strike and compared it to Halo online, I think Counter Strike puts Halo to shame. But hey that's just me. I'm still wondering what's going to be innovative for Halo 3. There is so much hype behind Halo 3 that I expect A LOT. Anyone feel me?

I never cared for the single-player campaign, but I loved the multiplayer mode. If you got a bunch of friends playing on Live, Halo is a really fun game.

See maybe that was my problem. I only had one friend playing online that I knew. And I kept dying cause I'm not exactly molded into the MS controller. Felt wierd to me.

uggh, i hate that controller. granted, i also have an issue with one hand (thus my handle). controller has too many buttons placed in weird spots plus it is big and bulky. give me a dual shock any day of the week.
