i am getting a little upset. i look at the upcoming releases, with announced dates, and i only see 4 more bds that i want until november or whenever it shows until.
i have ghost rider on pre order. after that i see The untouchables, The warriors, and 300. other than that i see a bd less landscape for me. ![]() not sure if this is so much a "general discussion" as it is the same crap people have been saying for a little while now. just more whining. i want some harry potter and xmen dammit. ![]() |

I'm wondering the same thing. There's only a few more blu ray titles released or releasing soon that I want to own. I've seen most of the others worth seeing curtousy of Netflix. So, this weekend when the 1080p HD DVD player gets discounted another $100, why shouldn't i get it? If i got it, i could at least see all the amazing Universal movies in High Def.
Fox supports blu ray, right? Don't they know that not releasing movies is helping the other side? Blu ray has more studio support, why then don't they have 5 times the number of titles as HD DVD? |

I expect BD studios have been somewhat conservative in their release slate for the first half of the year. The summer also isn't a big buying time for home video - vacationing, spending more time outdoors and what not. Oct-Feb I believe is the busiest time of year for HT online. That's when forum participation is at the highest anyway. We should start seeing some of the big fall titles announced over the coming months. And I would expect studios are already gearing up for a big fall. A lot of people are expecting this holiday buying season to decide a winner. Fox should be back in the hunt by then too.

I've ordered a new Ipod.
Don't get me wrong. Since i got my PS3 in December for the purpose of watching Blu Ray movies i've thought Blu Ray would win. Now i'm not sure, it seems that the number of Blu Ray's sold is only slightly above the number of PS3's sold. HD DVD on the other hand seems to be selling about 5 discs per player, if not more. With the current sales promotion we may quickly see HD DVD outselling blu ray 5 to 1. And with studios like Fox not having any new releases, i've got to wonder if they've decided to sit on the side lines because they're waiting to see who wins. Maybe i'll wait a few more months before getting an HD DVD player, i haven't decided yet. All i know is Universal has alot of good movies that i want. |

Right. How many Blu Ray titles have you bought? I've got 23 titles and based upon the sales numbers vs. Blu ray players (ie. PS3s) that seems to put me in the 95% percentile of Blu ray supporters.

Yeah and at the same time rewarding Toshiba and universal for creating this format war in the first place. Go ahead and buy those HDDVDs, just know that you are helping ensure the demise of high def optical disc.

![]() Really? You think that? Give me a break. IF there is a demise of high def optical disc, it will come at the hands of those who are satisfied with Pan and San. Which is the fast majority of people still. How many people do you know, that can't stand the 'black bars on top and bottom of the picture'? Like it or not, the High Def market is SMALL compared to the DVD audience. And by me buying some HD titles won't make a dent in this at all. I mean, I have over 50 BD titles, and only about 10 HD titles. And I have more BD titles on the horizon. I also own some 8-Tracks; I don't think that killed the cassette back in the day. Heck, I have some reel to reel, and still buy records! Virgin vinyl! BD will win this silly war, since it's better, has better support, and more money behind it. HD will lose, since Universal is the only major studio, and they can only hold out so long. If NBC has anything to say about it, (and they do), they will NOT want to be losing large chunks of cash when HEROES comes out on disc. I know for a fact, that the bean counters are pushing for a BD version of that title, and there are plenty more shows NBC owns that they want to make money from. |

we make fun of hd dvds anorexic bitrate and obselete disc capacity (and rightly so) but i do have to say that they have some of their s&%t together. if pip, ime, and BD+ are whats holding back these titles why isn't sony doing everything they can to roll out those features? i've been on this forum for months, and we talk about it every day. if there is so much for sony riding on this war why don't they bring out hd dvd destroying deathray? also when these features EVENTUALLY arrive, will they be in the form of software upgrades like uscaling? or will it be new hardware in a new line of players?
please sony. pretty please and instead of drugs or forsaking my local commutes via bicycle i'm looking into solar panels. save the earth. that way there can be a bbc set called Planet Earth 2. |

If you want the numbers from exclusive studios, there's 150 BD studio exclusive movies. Universal has only 78 "amazing" exclusive movies. Quote:
