Received my Blood for Dracula disc yesterday.
1080i60. ![]() The transfer itself is pretty good, though the usual basic Shock compression. The first time I've seen the film though.... bonkers! I didn't know whether to think it was awful or not at first, then as I got closer to the end I began realising how clever and thought-provoking it was. It's a piece of moving kitsch art with something to say rather than a traditional movie I found. I'm picking up Flesh for Frankenstein now. 1080i60? I suppose I'll have to put up with that. I hope someone does a 3D restoration someday. Ybuike - I think the Blu-ray is the best option. I looked at a DVD Beaver comparison and the Tartan DVD despite being anamorphic looked poorer than the old non-anamorphic Criterion. The Japanese Blu-ray seems to be the edition of choice at the moment if you don't mind paying a premium. |
