I wouldn't give up on the chances of a corrected US disc yet. I'd recommend keeping these foreign discs as a last resort, if we somehow fail to get Sony to address this.

If I end up purchasing the Polish disc I will do that. Does that disc have English audio at all though?

Also, please ask him about that abrupt change between Fury driving through the arty and arriving back at base.

Would be shocking if it didn't. Very rare for a movie, especially a major U.S. production, not to have the original language audio track.

Are the Interview and MBFW both branded as Mi4K discs?

I know Fury is but it would be interesting if the three problomatic discs are all Mi4K, and as Whiplash isn't might explain why it does not suffer from the same issue.

MBFW definitely is, big banner across the back cover. I'll have to double check THE INTERVIEW tonight at home to confirm. That might be the common thread!

The Interview doesn't have the Mastered In 4K banner on the back.

According to IMDB the DI is indeed 2K. That's strange for Sony.

Wow that sucks, I remember Hostel 1 or 2 having this issue. Maybe both.

I don't think it's true in regard to Fury disc.

http://poral.eu/fury.php

As you can see there are screencaps of menu, and there is possibility to select polish subtitles as off (wyłączone) or on (włączone).
And of course there is English DTS-HD MA 5.1 track. Unfortunately no extras.

Brighter one here looks too bright to me.

I definitely think The Interview has black crush but I'm not sold on Fury having the same problem. I think it's just a dark movie.

By the way, guys...the valid technical term is "crushed blacks".

But it's not too bright, really. In the brighter shot, the dark area running through the center of the image is still just as dark in both versions. But you see far more detail in the shadows in the lighter one. That strongly suggests black crush. The lighter shot still displays deep blacks in some areas. Not every instance of black is supposed to be pitch black.

Ignore detail though, not all detail in dark areas is supposed to be seen. The brighter image in the comparison shots often looks way too blown out and bright to me, like cranking up the brightness on my TV to the point black bars look grey.

That's my opinion, anyway.

The Interview was shot on the Alexa, which shoots at 2.8k. same with Whiplash. Fury was shot on 35mm.

Again, I can't speak for the Interview, but all evidence I've been able to find from people who actually worked on Fury suggests that it looks as intended. Hunches from forum users and caps from a Polish BD that Ayer most likely had no oversight over whatsoever =/= proof of defect. Interested to see if he responds to whoever tweeted at him. I'll return on occasion to see a follow up for that but you guys don't really have much of a case here re: Fury besides personal preference, which is fine, but it doesn't mean Sony needs to correct the disc.

If that's the case, it should look uniform across all platforms: BD, DVD, and Digital Copies. However, it doesn't.
