outdated? hardly.

there is no tv sold in 2014 or 2015 yet, or even announced, that includes the FULL specs of UHD. It is utterly inconceivable, from a business point of view, that before Christmas when UHD Blu-ray players and media go on sale that they would be incompatible with any display on the market.

UHD blu-ray may SUPPORT features above and beyond what we have now, but it will probably be years before they're actually implemented.

At any rate. even if you consider current 4K tvs to be "out of date" that only means that 1080p tvs are even MORE out of date, as they don't support ANY of the enhanced features that come with 4K.

I've said this in other threads as well. If you have a 1080p tv right now that you're content with, it is probably not the best time to buy a 4K tv. However, if you are in need of a new tv anyways there is no practical reason to buy a 1080p over a 4K tv unless cost is your sole concern.
