Are you just saying that all platinums shouldnt be equal or are you saying that "harder" games or objectives should receive platinums trophies?

If its the latter the platinum is not an objective based trophy. At least not pertaining to in-game play. Its a trophy given when you complete ALL the OTHER trophies in the game. Kind of like a finale trophy.

Uncharted: Drake's Fortune has no online multiplayer mode, so that platinum trophy for sure doesn't require any online interaction (other than the connection to confirm you earning your trophies).

Okay, Trophies are associated with your PSN account to prevent cheating. If it was stored locally on your Hard Drive then people could load other people's saved games and get their trophies illegitamently. Thats another reason why you need to use brand new Save Data so it doesn't prevent you from getting trophies.

That's not quite right. Trophies are stored locally on your machine and are then synced to the PSN. Trophies being stored on your machine has nothing to do with actually acquiring them. Trophies aren't awarded retroactively because it would allow cheating. Although if you're really determined someone could still just create saves for uncharted immediately before getting a trophy and you could load one and get the trophy, then load the next one, etc.

im getting a new HDD very soon what do i need to do to keep all my trophies? or is it tied to my PSN, sorry i don't really understand how it all works.

im just afraid the new HDD will cause the game to think im loading up a game save and not recognize all my accomplishments

If you do the backup option the PS3 has, I don't see why it wouldn't transfer over your trophies when you restore it...

Working on a link right now the site isnt working. It was from a PS site though.

Anyone know if Soulcaliber IV will get Trophies soon? It has a built-in "Honor" system already and that is what made it so quick to introduce them with Uncharted...

Your trophies will be fine as long as you've synced to the PSN. When I swapped out my hard drive my trophies were missing even after using a backup (it's hit and miss from what I've seen). All you need to do is initiate a sync with the PSN server to get all your trophies back. I've found the easiest way to do this is just get one of the easier trophies again.

so im going to lose them.

but when i initiate a syng with PSn

then i go into a game, get an easy trophy all of them will come back???

I can't guarantee you will lose them. I think I've seen reports of people keeping them. I'm also not certain that getting a trophy is the only way to initiate a sync. If you try comparing your trophies with someone it might do it as well. Or viewing your profile.

Edit: Also this will only work if you use your PS3 with a internet connection and I am no way taking any responsibility for any possible lost trophies.

thanks for your help, i would have freaked out and not known what to do if i do lose them when i put in that new HDD.

Sock...what I would do is call and Sony and ask them directly the best way to make sure you dont lose anything. Report back anything you find out. Thanks.
