Default Lionsgate/Disney TV Series DVD Deal - Can Blu-ray Be Far Behind?

8 Simple Rules For Dating My Teenage Daughter - The complete series was available in HD.

My Wife And Kids - I don't remember if the first season was in HD, but the majority of the series was.

Hope & Faith - I believe this was available in HD since the beginning.

Kevin Hill - It aired on UPN the same time as "Veronica Mars", so I'm thinking it was HD as well?

Six Degrees - This was aired in HD!

October Road - This was aired in HD!

Lionsgate also announced that they picked up the rights to "Boy Meets World" (which was never aired in HD), "According To Jim" (I'm not sure if the first season was in HD, but most of it was), and "Reaper" (aired in HD).

I know this is kind of a weird post, but given that Lionsgate has done such a good job with their "Mad Men" and "Weeds" releases on Blu-ray, the thought of getting some of these shows... particularly "Reaper: Season One", "October Road: The Complete Series" and "8 Simple Rules For Dating My Teenage Daughter" (well at least the John Ritter episodes) on Blu-ray are extremely exciting to me to think about!

Cross your fingers everbody!

I know "Reaper" was a series that's been mentioned/wanted here for a little while now...

I doubt they'd release "Boy Meets World" on Blu-ray any time soon as it's not HD.

Some of the other shows I mentioned though were available most, if not all of their run, in HD.

I seem to remember TVShowsonDVD mentioning something about it.

(In this case, though, it's just Lionsgate taking over some abandoned Disney boxset series after the appeal faded and Disney cut back to just their "core" current series of Lost Desperate Housewives--
Can't rule out HD, but there was a reason why Disney didn't want to finish Boy Meets World on disk in the first place...)

Wasn't it shot on film, though? If so, and the materials are still available, then it can be re-mastered in HD. Although I don't know how much of a demand for it on Blu there would be...

Due to all of the music rights, it's unlikely The Wonder Years will ever be released on DVD or BD.

thats the problem.

As for shows like Boy Meets World I think it will be regular dvd release.

I know this is kind of off topic but anyone who has the inserts for Boy Meets World do you know where I can get those? I bought a used one for a cheap price and 2 of the clips are broke.

As for According to Jim I know that Belushi had said they wont be making any kind of dvd sets for a while since the show is being played by multiple channels.

I would love to get Hope and Faith on bluray same with 8 simple rules

Thanks Alan, now you got me extremely excited for a potential Blu-ray release of "October Road".

I guess I'll be writing to Lionsgate next and requesting for "October Road" to be put on Blu-ray in 2009. This is a personal favorite and it still pisses me off that ABC did a poor job of promoting it, which resulted in a huge drop in viewership in its final season. I purchased an HDTV in May and missed out on the HD broadcasts, so I would love to see this is in 1080p. And maybe now they'll be able to include audio commentaries.

Also, "October Road" was spun off of the film "Beautiful Girls" which was written by series co-creator Scott Rosenberg, and I've already let Disney know the demand for a BD release.
